Well I heard that the dimensions of N6 are not changing at all. Basically the Barco screens are staying exactly where they are! Wink

But that some new furniture is on its way for the N24 move. Whether that means a new desk, soft seats, pillars or whatever I'm not sure.

The desk has to change - whilst it looks great, it's not practical for the 1/6/10, let alone a rolling news channel with frequent guests and so on.

Yeah I agree, It's just too small and too....round. (well too round for guests and double headed pres)

Shame really - as I said, it looks brilliant.

Would be nice if elements of it could be carried over to the new one.

I imagine, the studio will be split in half (or more 60/40 in News 24's favour) But when the national is not in rehearsal or on air, the split is gone, and News 24 can use the addition space. This space can also be used to make pre-records of sports updates and reports which can be played on News 24, when the national's side is in use.

Also I imagine TC7 will be used more now in-between shows, for programmes like Hard Talk etc, perhaps this too will be split in half and two shows recorded at once, (if the gallery equipment makes this possible)

There will need to be some tight sound recording set-up for N6, so rehearsal sounds wont be picked up on N24

The desk will probably go to a region in need. *cough* East Midlands Today *cough*

NE & Cumbria has to use a very dated set.

Thats true. They dismantled the old one, to build a new one which was exactley the same shape, two kind of semi-circles. The only difference was red walls and two screens N24 style. The desk is the worst though - its an old wooden one, with the silver cross motif (ala N24 before the 2003 relaunch) but they put frosted glass on the top, which trust me, doesn't mix with wood!

It's almost as if you're bidding for the desk.

It looks bloody awful doesn't it, and Carol Malia's face doesn't help things.

What's this silly idea some people have got about doing 2 broadcasts from the same studio at the same time? What nonsense, surely?
