I doubt it would ever happen for exactly the reasons you stated noggin, but it's a shame there isn't a project blog for these types of things. Like the one for eurovision, http://www.eurovisiondiary.com/ , they keep all of their 'secret' stuff off there (until after the event) so people don't know what's coming, but cover a lot of the backstage / install stuff.

Eurovision is VERY different though - it is a show with no real competitors and there is very little secret in the technical side. The set design and graphics are also released in stages and quite widely publicised as a result.

I don't imagine ITN / Sky would get much out of some fairly low res photos of the gallery being stripped apart.

No - but it is the thin end of the wedge - and just not very professional to be honest.

The current BBC World, BBC News 24 and BBC One galleries are nearly identical in equipment terms, all between 8 and 10 years old, and much of the kit is reaching the end of its life. You wouldn't want to re-use it in another gallery - you'd want to put it in a skip...

What's the point in electrically testing all the gear, if it's all being replaced as it's no longer viable to maintain?

Not everything is being replaced - some major infrastructure items are but also lots of stuff is being retained.

It not very fair of anyone to try to tempt noggin to leak information and potentially place his job at risk. I'm sure snippets will be announced officially before the actual rebrand is launched and then he will be free to comment in public.

In the meantime I suppose there is no reason why people can't speculate, perhaps noggin is able to comment then about whether suggestions are technically possible. I'm sure that wouldn't break any confidences.

I'm surprised the mocks forum hasn't gone into overdrive already.

I, for one, never did this - I was merely saying that I found it surprising that the BBC weren't more free with this info. Noggin has provided a good explanation why they do this, and I want no more.

Another problem with pale sets, they get grubby very quickly. With darker sets it's harder to notice smudges, shoe marks etc.

I very much hope that the white will just be for the titles and graphics.

The titles ang graphics were only done a year ago so are you sure they will be changing. And I too dont like the sound of this white wash Shocked
I Hope they look at there genious 1999 look as insperation. Wink

There were those awful titles for the nationals used between May 2006 and January 2007 which lasted just 8 months.

As stated the titles introduced in May 07 were different from the ones introduced in 2004, the globe was glassier, the dynamic headline was dropped (although it only ever was used with the default BBC NEWS) and the transition wipe was introduced at the end.
