...Maybe it's just a case of me not noticing it in the past.

No, been in use since January 2007, but it's usually seen during sports coverage (and only recently on BBC One because of the News 24 simulcast), so BBC 1 viewers have only seen it at weekends.

Countdown flashed on after the BBC One ident, but went to the studio silent for a few seconds then the thunderclap.

They've been using the News 24 feed today for the National bulletins hence there not being a ticker on the channel.

It's just you. They've been using it, with tweaks to reflect presentation refreshes, for years now.

I don't think so that graphic looks familiar. I think it is just that network bulletins at the weekend have recently been using News 24 style graphics, rather than using the network style that I presume the One has been using.

The One O'Clock News has been using N24 graphics. Often with a mask too big for the ticker, cutting off the bottom of the namestraps.

Oh, I see. Then again it can't be helped with all these changes.

Haven't seen it mentioned, but the THE BAFTA AWARDS 2008 slide on N24 looks very like the new style - even the wipe across the screen looks like the window on the Regions titles.

Thanks for that. I rarely catch the One now. I just presumed as I have seen networked bulletins from BBC News 24 where the network astons were used.

What time will the News 24 set close to change it all round for the new look etc? And what time will reopen? Durin the BBC World switchover?

I would expect the last programme from the current News 24 set to be either the 0000-0100 hour - if BBC World takeover for overnights on Monday morning, or the 0400-0500 hour if News 24 provide the joint overnight service for the last time on Sunday night/Monday morning.

I would expect the 0500-0600 BBC World hour to be the first with the new graphic/channel looks - as that is usually described as the first programme of the day (0000-0500 are usually deemed part of the day before)

The first time the new BBC News Channel set is likely to be seen on-air, I would expect, would be at 0830, when the BBC News Channel peels away from Breakfast.
