Why would you want to? Most of the public don't really care about a new look - it's the quality of the news they worry about

Why has there been no on-air mention on News 24 about the change tomorrow, I just don't understand. I would think they'd be hyping it up, especially as it seems to be a quiet News day as it were.

If it was a new service or new programming then there would be a need to hype it up.

If I remember rightly in 2003, when the BBC introduced the Red and Black look, didn't BBC News 24 do some testing of their new graphics and titles overnight one day actually on air, when only a few people were watching. This time they haven't done that, so they must be pretty confident that everything will look OK.
I think because they are moving into a currently unused studio and gallery (N6) they have been able to do lots of test off-air already.
Let's hope they remember to check the safe areas this time...

Why hype up a change that is effectively cosmetic? The schedules aren't changing hugely (unlike Sky News when they had their recent huge relaunch). Also - given the huge production and technical changes taking place - over-promoting a change could be a precursor to a lot of egg on your face...

I must say that I am looking foward to tomorrow to see everything come together on air. So far the caps and clips make the branding look great and, as someone else rightfully said, it's a combination of the best bits from the past three major incarnations.
I will be interested to see how N24, even News Channel, looks and operates in N6 as opposed to N8 which came across as a hive of activity.
The above also touches on the fact that people will continue to call it News 24 and the fact that it sounds so much better than the BBC News Channel or simply BBC News. I certainly wouldn't have got rid of the strong name brand. A shame that after almost 11 years, BBC News 24 will go for good.
Someone said there was no on-air mention about the rebrand - the only thing I've seen is the odd comment at the end of regional programmes saying a new look and also there was a piece on Newswatch (
) which showed a clip of the new titles and asked some management staff why the need to change, to which she replied with the usual PR stuff not worthy of paying attention to.
Under 12 hours now!

Exactly, so why waste £550,000 of licence payers money when you guys spent over ten years building the BBC News 24 brand only now to get rid of a well established name?
