Well we don't know for sure yet that they have! Maybe a 90 second version has been created but it might not be used. On the other hand with most of the News 24 & National News bulletins now coming from the same studio & gallery it might be an idea to run longer countdowns into National News bulletins to allow extra prep time in the gallery etc?

I wonder why they chose to go back to a 90 second countdown, presumably for the BBC News channel? I thought they considered long countdowns a waste of air-time?

Perhaps one of them is Newyddion? (535-538)
Well Scotland, Wales and English regions are easily identifiable. 536 doesn't seem to take cues from either the current Newsline or Newyddion music so it could be either. But I'd imagine it's Newsline.

The music has changed quite a bit over the past few weeks - Infact the titles delivered on digibeta have had to be re-dubbed due to a change in the music for several regions
Just look at the English Regions sequence and you'll notice it's tune has changed from the BBC London version that's been published.
It is interesting to see Reporting Scotland and Wales today have inherited their old theme from the 1999 titles, where as Newsline appear to have inherited a version of the national titles.

Yup and whilst it adds amazingness to the N24 one it kinda adds to the general confusion that is the World one.
I think the new N24 and World countdowns are Lowe's best and worst work, respectively.

good point. with N24 in the same studio i'd presume the regions will have to do their own closes in the style of the nations.

It might just be a mix of headline bed and closer to make an end credit bed. The Five News and News at Ten music have the same sort of thing.
