The centred version did look better - but would look best without the box.

Did like the fact she pointed out the branding would be seen on 'News 24'. The analogy of 'bumpy at the start, rough at the middle, now pretty damn good...so let's get rid of the name' just seemed odd. In that case, if anything News 24 should be expanding its brand - like it started to do with various 24-titled programmes.

Re: previous post about whether N24 will do anything special, I can't see it happening. They'll want this change to be as low key as possible. The most we'll get is some sympathetic director at 3am Monday who has managed to dig out an old countdown! (Or a 60sec version of the current, as was shown at 10pm)

Lol, I thought that was strange logic, too. Surely the best time to swap a channel's name is when it's going through a rocky patch with not many viewers, i.e. fewer people would notice? Doing it at the height of the channel's success is pretty stupid. I also loved the fact she mistakenly referred to it as 'News 24'. I suspect that might happen a lot from next week and be a major embarrassment for the management Laughing

Based on the revamp last year, I'd say 5.00am with The World Today.

The East edition of Look East from Norwich was presented in the usual way standing in front of the view of the Forum with graphics over layed so you wouldn't really notice anything going on.

She also defended the price tag, saying it was cheap for 24/7 output, which I agree with.

If there were different versions yes it would be cheap - but as it appears unless I'm mistaken that News 24, BBC World and BBC1 will have exactly the same titles, is it really value for money?

I'm all for building a strong brand, but that doesn't mean everything has to be exactly the same.

By the looks World's titles are different (or at least end differently).

Also I think it's about they'd rather spend 500k and get it right than 200k and have to redo it again and get criticised!

Just seen the new titles on screen during Newswatch, thought they were very good.

Helen Boaden was asked some questions about the revamp, including the countdown, but only confirmed that it wouldn't be scrapped, she didn't mention any changes. She also defended the price tag, saying it was cheap for 24/7 output, which I agree with.
Yep, was quite interesting.

Nice to see the titles without that box for a change! (For those who missed the programme, it's about 5:15 in here.)

Notice how she says about changing the name to the BBC News Channel is a good thing, but half way through she says "you will see the results of the money spent on screen all day long on BBC News 24".

Loved it!

The one significant thing for me in that report was the fact that our beloved countdown is staying (in some form at least)! Wink
