Identical music across Nationals, News 24 and World from what I've been told.

What about BBC Worlds ident? will it keep its signature tune? Hope so.

The channel stuff (ids, countdown) will keep World's signature notes/FXs but the news stuff will be identical.

Phew!

Well there's a fair bit of interest in this. It's the most read story in the UK on the BBC NEWS website.

No - you're not the only one. I feel like I've been turning into a grumpy guts over this as I don't think there's been a single thing about this revamp I've liked - but was thinking I'd probably have to eat my words when I saw the titles.

However, no - they're bland, unoriginal and tired. If these had followed the cream era fair enough, it would be a natural progression - but as it is it seems as if we're stepping back to 1999.

I still can't believe that NorthWest Tonight were allowed to go ahead with a new look 6 months ago knowing they would have to adopt the full BBC News new look. Doesn't make sense.

Seems odd - and can't believe North West Tonight will have to give up their fantastic titles for the bland and lifeless regional versions of this new look.

Have the videos for the Nations variations been made available anywhere? Also, a couple mentioned how Scotland and NI have great music - so why not Wales? It was the same back in 1999/2000 - they got great reworkings of the themes, while we seemed to get the arrangement no-one else wanted.

BBC East Midlands Today trying out a new sofa in the studio earlier on this afternoon ! I wonder if any other changes are in the pipeline studio wise ?

Anything seem to be happening or taking place in other BBC TV Regional News studios ?

Have to disagree about the Scottish music, I much prefer the English regions version! The Scottish version although it starts off well at the beginning has a very jarring sound towards the end. Especially noticeable in the shorter sting.

Look East I hope will have a studio refurbishment. Its had the same look for nearly 4 years now... needs an update - also the sets in both the Cambridge opt out and main Norwich feed will clash with the new look so they've got to do something.

I've always thought the Look East studio set looks a bit like a Library!

Does anyone know what's happening to the 'BBC News Channel's' countdown? Is the music changing? New visuals perhaps? Smile

Hmm might be because the back drop actually is a library.

Hmm, its like the BBC have got a look which is in all respects a successor to the 1999 look, but as if all the other rebrands of BBC News which happened between now and then had never happened. The place names and fast revolves are back in the titles after a few years absence (except in Scotland...)

The BBC London News titles - the music is pretty much identical to the music used by Newsroom South East (and other English Regions) when first rebranding to the 1999 look.

As for comparisions with RTÉ - at least the BBC's look is recognisable as a globe. I still don't have a clue what RTÉ News' title sequence is about. Mind you if they did copy RTÉ, it would be good revenge for RTÉ's wholesale rip-off of the BBC's 1990s virtual studio with their own Green Machine of the same period.

The rebranding of News 24 to the BBC News Channel starts from the end of the 10 O'Clock News on Wednesday, 16th April, followed by a complete rebrand of all BBC News outlets - including regional TV - on the 21st.

So it seems like they're easing in the name.

And perhaps they'll be in N6 from Wednesday - or at least just 10.30 - 1am each night from Wednesday. Would make sense to 'try it out' on air when the least people are watching?

The opening Wales use is different than that for Scotland and NI - infact, I prefer the welsh version!
