Is this the first time they've launched EVERYTHING at the same time? National, World and Regions?

Yes, I think it is as far as TV goes:

Original Lambie-Nairn/David Lowe rebrand:
BBC National News: May 1999
BBC Breakfast: October 2000
BBC News 24: October 1999
BBC World: April 2000
Regions/Nations: 1999-2000 (region by region)

In-house rebrand:
BBC National News: January 2004
BBC Breakfast: May 2006
BBC News 24: December 2003
BBC World: December 2003
Regions/Nations: uniform look fell apart

And in 2007, just the domestic and international TV news in London refreshed slightly. So, I think this is probably the biggest redesign they've ever done in one go.

As an American, I have BBC America, not BBC World, but I'll see what happens to World News America next monday. If anyone wants, I can also record the opening since I use eyeTV. I do like the brighter feel to the whole theme now. And I'm just echoing others when I say I wish the music was changed a little bit.

The rebranding of News 24 to the BBC News Channel starts from the end of the 10 O'Clock News on Wednesday, 16th April, followed by a complete rebrand of all BBC News outlets - including regional TV - on the 21st.

On Wednesday, is it just going to say BBC News Channel instead of News 24, or will the new titles and graphics start then also.

My guess is that they'l just use the current generic BBC NEWS titles and DOG until Monday.

The regions part is a bit underwelming to me. Aren't we fed up of the same themes being remixed a 100 times, can't we have something new

Renaming the BBC Ten O'Clock News to BBC News at Ten seems to be just a pathetic reaction to News at Ten, and dropping such a long established name too.

I wonder will presenters on News 24 now refer to just 'the news channel', in the same way as presenters on the ITV News Channel often did

I still can't believe that NorthWest Tonight were allowed to go ahead with a new look 6 months ago knowing they would have to adopt the full BBC News new look. Doesn't make sense.

You'll recognise some of the shots in the North West Today/Tonight titles - so the look 6 months ago hasn't gone to waste Wink

They aren't naming it the BBC News at Ten to get at itv.

It is going to be...

BBC News
BBC News Channel
BBC News at 1
BBC News at 6
BBC News at 10
BBC World News

That way the titles all have "BBC News" as a single entity, rather than BBC Ten O'Clock News etc.

The titles look a massive improvement to what we have now - it's a shame that the music has not really developed much; you can tell its had some work done to it though as the bass has been faded out slightly and the strings are more prominent towards the end. Regional music is nice though.

Right yeah, because they waited this long into a battle that they're winning hands down to make such a 'reactionary' move out of spite?

Or could it be that they want the "BBC News" bit to be the main focus and whatever follows be short enough to maintain the focus on the "BBC News"?

Which do you think is more likely?

I doubt it, I imagine they'll be plugging "BBC News" as much as possible, otherwise it rather defeats the object.
