Sorry if this has been said a thousand times, but is Breakfast keeping it's look or changing with the rest of it? And why is the Six staying where it is?

I hope they change the straps.. at least.

Well it is the only time News 24 currently loses its graphics, which is silly really, so I hope the graphics for Breakfast match the rest of the look, so the graphics remain consistent on the News Channel, that goes for the National News also, I hope they use the same graphics as the BBC News Channel.

TBH, I would like Breakfast to get titles in the same style as the Nation's news, only with the whole UK map, and have it in orange and yellow colours. Also the England Regions getting orange titles for the opt outs, in the same style as the red titles for all other times. Also with the same kind of background and colours as the N6 one, only have some kind of nice open plan area with some landscape view beyond the windows of the background environment. Similar to the shots of the BA Headquarters they used to use.

It would seem ridiculous having spent so much money to have the 6 looking different to the 1 and 10. This exercise is about 'uniform' and having one identity. Seems odd if just for the reason of being able to break away. A broom cupboard would suffice for 20mins surely.

I imagine TC7 will use the same backing and lighting colours, and will be given the same desk to use, so it wont be too noticeable. But, if the One O'Clock uses the daytime new backing, and the Ten O'Clock using the night version, perhaps there will be a dusk/sunset version for use on the Six O'Clock and for use on the BBC News Channel for the evening hours?

We don't need a sunrise variant, as Breakfast will have its own backing, and overnight they will be in BBC World's studio rather than N6.

Is N6's floor now black too? So I don't see how it would look any different to an average viewer, if TC7 used a similar desk and backdrop.

Doesn't mean it'll look good though noggin! I just don't understand the need for the BBC logo above the regional programme name.

I think that there are two brands on-screen.

The programmes are officially now (and have been for a number of years) called "BBC South Today", "BBC Look East" etc. not just "South Today", "Look East" etc., and for branding purposes (buildings, OB trucks, letterheads etc.) the BBC logo is part of the brand of the programme name.

However the programmes are also being embraced, again, into the BBC NEWS brand, which has its own logo etc.

The BBC logos are part of both visual brands - and not optional bits of either. Agree it is strange visually on some occasions - but there you go.

Exactly, my Mum for one doesn't (and won't) have a clue that they are different studios and I'm sure that all but the most eager spotters will notice.

I really doubt TC7 getting a new desk....wasn't it said on here at the time that the desk WAS the new desk....it is in the same style as the oval one, rather its round!

Ok well either way it isn't too different...

I wonder if they will do anything special for shows like Dateline, and World Business Report (the London segments)...

I was thinking the same about the desk, also Newsnight and Working lunch wouldn't work as well with the oval one imo

As for the rebrand it looks good from the caps, not sure about the backdrop of the newsroom, never been a big fan of just newsroom backdrop think you need some foreground walls to soften it, still that's just me.

will wait and see what it looks like on air.

I think the 6 is staying in TC7 just because it's available (TC7 can't be used for the 1 as Working Lunch has just finished in there, and not for the 10 due to Newsnight preparing).

Having the 6 in TC7 has the advantage that the BBCNC can break away to N6 for major news.

I suppose, if they really wanted to, the NC could break away from the 1 and 10 to a presenter in a corner of TC7 until N6 became free again?

I wouldn't think so

I imagine it is to give the BBC News Channel an opportunity to opt out of the simulcast should their be ongoing Breaking News. And as the BBC News Channel staff will be in control of the One O'Clock News, I imagine they will cover the Breaking Stories, more so than the 6 or 10 would be permitted to.

STOP CALLING IT THE BBC NEWS CHANNEL!!!! AARRGGGGHHHH!!!!!! Rolling Eyes

Every time you say it you're just re-enforcing what a mistake it is to drop "News 24"
