Reading this thread, it's interesting to see a lot of people with insider details, just where do you lot work? It'd be interesting to find out Smile Unless you've already mentioned where at some point, in which case ignore me Razz

People are reluctant to give that sort of information out, you know Razz Some actually work for the BBC, others are merely contractors who were involved in the design process. Then some of us are related to BBC employees, and therefore get to know everything second hand Wink

Some of us are just not linked to any broadcaster and have no inside info of any kind... Sad

Being an insider doesn't necessarily help. I got to see the studio and South Today shots here before I was sent an official PowerPoint presentation that has the national and all regional stills in. And I'm still waiting for my copy of the DVD that has all the branding on, the rate this place is going I'll probably see it here first!

It doesn't look too good in my opinion. Rather fake, empty and bland.

And I also think that BBC News 24 is too strong a brand to drop. I can just see it already being a marketing failure and people with keep on calling it News 24... rather like Opal Fruits, Marathon and Jif. Well I know they're products but i think you can see what i mean.

Actually Carlton would be a good example. I for one never called Central, Carlton at all.

It's nice to see that the rationalisation of BBC structures has managed to produce such an efficient, cohesive and well-informed organisation.

Ahh well, I'm sure that's what the consultants came out with (they do everywhere else) .

Be part of the team, just abit later.... Wink

The Carlton one is a good example, I know people who call ITV1 -Central, even Bob Warman did, he said "Im back with extra tonight , thats on Central at 8.00pm", enough of ITV , Back to BBC.

Name changes like these take years. I have only recently gotten used to Starburst and Snickers...

And as for ITV1 even during Thames, Carlton and LWT, I called it ITV.

I only ever call it ITV 1, if I am making it clear it isn't 2 3 or 4

Yup I designed it 3 years ago, in tables, and it worked with the browsers out there at the time. I have since learnt DIVs and XHTML, and have been working on changing it, and will do the same eventually with The TV Room, other than those two huge sites, the other websites I have worked on have been XHTML Strict and Valid!

The start of the changes can be seen here...

Sorry if this has been said a thousand times, but is Breakfast keeping it's look or changing with the rest of it? And why is the Six staying where it is?

I imagine it is to give the BBC News Channel an opportunity to opt out of the simulcast should their be ongoing Breaking News. And as the BBC News Channel staff will be in control of the One O'Clock News, I imagine they will cover the Breaking Stories, more so than the 6 or 10 would be permitted to.

I think the 6 is staying in TC7 just because it's available (TC7 can't be used for the 1 as Working Lunch has just finished in there, and not for the 10 due to Newsnight preparing).

Having the 6 in TC7 has the advantage that the BBCNC can break away to N6 for major news.

I suppose, if they really wanted to, the NC could break away from the 1 and 10 to a presenter in a corner of TC7 until N6 became free again?
