I'm not sure the press shots of the studio are even real. They look very Photoshopped Confused

No all the N6 studio shots are real.

It may be real, but the presenter and desk have been layered on!

Dear oh dear... they are not photoshopped. Wink

Has anyone noticed that from all the press shots, there isn;t one showing the side that used to be used for presentations, maybe the BBC are trying to hide something until the launch.

Considering the size of the new desk, fact that the right-hand lightbox is rather large and that N6 is a small studio - then I guess that there isn't space for anything to the right of the desk, that's why it's not shown in the photographs.

It's probably just the portion of the wall they will use for down-the-line interviews.

The set looks OK, especially if they're using different lighting and backdrops for different times of the day.

At least they won't have the noise of that tractor cam in N8 or the constant hum from the newsroom anymore. When I buy pork chops from Sainsbury's I don't have to listen to the noise of the pig being slaughtered as I pick up the packet from the shelf; the same should apply to news - just gather it and present it, I don't need to know how you do it!

After trawling through some 20 pages since I logged on yesterday afternoon...

I must say I do like the look of the new titles. They've got a very 1999 feel to them, which I like as I felt this was the best era of modern times, but are also fresh. modern and new.

The music on the sting hadn't changed as much as I thought, it appears to be more a remix of several news themes as opposed to something completely new.

The only thing that doesn't look great is the studio shots as they don't look totally real. The desk looks far too glossy and the presenters seem to be stuck on, a bit like some of the mocks we see on here. I'm sure this is just a technique for the publicity shots and will appear more real when on air.

I'm looking forward to seeing the whole package in all its glory.

So fake backdrop #1 gets a bit of a touch up and returns? It was clearly axed for a good reason in 2006, so a shame to see it back. It's just a mass of lines, there's nothing distinctive or "real" about it. The nice thing about N24 is seeing people randomly darting across the floor in the background.

Oh yea because its the exact same backdrop isn't it and you've seen it in live action. Rolling Eyes

Theres nothing wrong with it and was hell of a lot better than the 2nd fake backdrop and definitely the crap skyline.

The background looks too fake, yet again the whole lot does in those photographs. Perhaps it will look better on screen, but still it looks alot like ITV News'. BBC News 24 / Channel will loose it's atmostphere and activity when they change studios on Monday.

The regions have come out very well, although I'm a bit miffed by the BBC News box logo AND 'BBC South Today' for example.

It breaks the BBC brand guidelines to have the BBC logo twice too, apparently.

Though those guidelines were written mainly be the creator of the current BBC logo. Who was that? Oh - Lambie-Nairn...

Who are rebranding BBC news ? Oh - Lambie-Nairn...

Them that makes the rules can... Oh you know.

By the way - can I also point out that the stills circulating are press stills, not TV grabs. The way the set is shot may differ somewhat from the way a stills photographer has shot it - and because of a difference in lenses and camera positions - the perspective, relative heights of foreground and backgrounds in frame etc. may change.

If it looks beautiful on-screen then this time next week I'll come on and take my words back. Having seen the publicity photos, I am entitled to give my opinion based on those!

I'm not saying they had much option - given the three wall screens, it would be very difficult to achieve anything realistic, compared to how it was in 1999, I just think it's a shame it appears so 'remote' and nondescript.

Doesn't mean it'll look good though noggin! I just don't understand the need for the BBC logo above the regional programme name.

The press shots don't do it justice. From the brief bits I've seen, the backdrop looks good on-screen.
