Typical - as always seems to be the case, the only thing that looks half decent is the one for BBC World.
Really though it's even more hideous than I thought it was going to be. The studio looks awful - so grey and dull - the city scape was so much better. And with the desk now looking more centered, I guess the background is just going to be a background most of the time, which is a complete waste of the technology the studio has to offer.
Don't think much of the desk too - the circle ones were just a bit more distinctive and this one reminds me of the dodgy desks they had from 1999-2004 in the old studio.
And as for the regional titles - what a load of rubbish. Poorly designed and not even as good as the 1999+ ones they obviously take inspiration from. And they certainly prove that boxing the BBC News logo is a huge mistake. It is very intrusive and very out of place - and completely unnecessary. All hideously dated too.
I'm struggling to find the words to describe how much I hate these - I feel like writing to the Daily Mail!

I think the music will have to see some changes, something more melodic, and light, to match the new lighter titles. The deep bass and harsh tone of the current title music, doesn't seem like it would work with the new look.
the BBC World News America (did you all notice that eh!) mix music on David Lowe's site, has some melodic piano fragments in it, so with a lighter bass, that may work...

It's been confirmed that David Lowe's music will still be used. No word on a possible remix / update though.
David Lowe is doing the new music but from what I've heard, it is incredibly similar to the current stuff but toned down. I'm glad really, as the current music is very OTT.

I do hope that if the music has been completely changed that they've asked David Lowe to do it again - it'd be a shame to lose his news expertise!

They do, I just hope its slow and subtle.
The 'frosted' globes don't animate - perhaps it's just the different angles the photos were taken at...
David Lowe has refreshed the music package. He has created a new 90 second top of the hour countdown theme (and a 60" version) which sounds excellent (although I don't know if the 90" will be used - there have been countdown 'issues').
IMHO, the theme used for the Scotland and Northern Ireland titles sounds the best.

I really like the look of this. I think it would be better without the box though. I like the look of the studio as well.

Is there any current BBC News music you can say is an indication as to what to expect from the new refreshed music.
Also do you know what will be happening to the titles for
The World Today
World News Tonight
World News Today
BBC World News America
And the graphics for
The BBC Daytime Summaries
The 8pm Updates
And finally, the countdowns and breakfiller on BBC World News and the BBC News Channel
Graphic with numbers or VT, or a mixture of the both?
New music and look for the breakfiller using the white and globe motief?
