I quite like the globe, it's the box that bothers me. The picture looks worse than the current titles, but I'm hopeful the effect will be better on screen, though the white will surely clash with such a dark studio background.

As for the name change it seems pointless, but as long as it is only reffered to as 'BBC News Channel' in handovers from BBC One and is just 'BBC News' the rest of the time it should be OK.

Love the 10 in the globe... more subtle than the huge silver numbers we have at the moment and the box logo may be growing on me. Wink

Slightly worried, hope it looks better on screen. Looks like a budget attempt at BBC Arabic. The '10' looks so wrong Sad

Remember, this is in the Sunday Times, which is owned by News Corp. It's in their best interest to present News 24 in a negative light compared to Sky News.

They would not go to that extreme, believe me!

I dont like any plans of the re-launch it sounds absolutley aufull probably going to be the worst thing at the BBC since the BBC1 dancers. The worst thing about it is dropping 24 from N24 and moving it into the box sorry N6. Evil or Very Mad

I've been working with the new re-brand, making some graphics to coincide etc and i really like it. It's certainly better than what we currently have in my opinion. It definitely seems to be a natural progression from the 1999 look (and sound) rather than a continuation of what we currently have. Some will probably say it's a step back, but i think as a brand it works very well and looks/sounds great.

The only thing I don't quite like about it is that (in the region i work in at least) they appear to have removed the name of the programme from the titles and just named the region itself, which i find a bit odd. As I haven't seen the other regional brands, i can't say for sure whether it's just ours or not. We shall see i suppose.

You've arrived at that conclusion based on what exactly? A couple of low-resolution screengrabs and some unconfirmed rumours? I think you should wait until you see everything in action before making such judgements.

I think that conclusion is based on the fact that it's not from the 90s. Rolling Eyes That's where his favourite stuff comes from.

And anything is better than the current dated and past its best current News 24 set.

You forget, that newspaper is owned by the same company that owns Fox News Channel, the rabid New York Post and the Sun. You're trying to tell me they wouldn't be biased for their sister operation, Sky News?

Listen, there's this bridge I wanna sell ya... Very Happy

Well I think it looks great so far, I always liked the cream era better and the forst studio when they had the rebrand with the red walls will always be my fave for this news look.

I don't understand why News 24 of all channels are moving to N6, how can they emulate a live newsroom within there, I hope BBC News 24 gets a decent look because Laimbie Nairn's original News 24 design in 1999 was by far the worst out of all the BBC News outlets.

BBC World is commercial organisation, so they get special preference and have a more newsroom feel, when they do 30min bulletins, but BBC News Channel, a continuous news service, is in a shoebox studio.

The best we can hope for is a backing that feels interesting and not with a noticeable loop, and pumping in some sounds from the newscentre for that feel.

I was about to get annoyed until I saw you said 1999. Lambie-Narin did News 24's original look in 1997 with the flags, they also did News 24's 1999 look which was the weakest of all the corporate red and cream looks they did, except for the countdown, that was far from weak!
