I have the feeling the whole channel will be renamed BBC World News... I doubt they would tell everyone it was being 'renamed' if it was just going to be the news bulletins and what presenters said that changed.

They they'd have to get rid of lots of their content then, cos it ain't 'news'.

Which brings me to this I capped in a promo a month or 2 ago... yes its only 1seconds but I was wondering if anyone knew what it was for.

To be honest the changing of the name of a channel really isn't that big a deal.

I can see the thinking behind the concept of a 24 hour BBC News Channel that BBC One dips into for a bit of "BBC News". It does truly put the 24 hour service at the heart of the news operation something which has been talked about for a long time but only grudgingly implemented.

Of far more importance is how they use their new space to deliver the news. If there is to be a newsroom backdrop are they going to go Sky News and clear the background for images from the news stories, or use the current National bulletin strategy of smaller images?

WIll the entire backdrop turn bright red for breaking news? Shocked

How will they use the bit of the set that isn't the main presenting desk:

small pod?
sofa/soft area?
no furniture (i.e. newswall)?

For me these are the elements of presentation that are far more important then whether the channel is called News 24 or BBC News.

Although I would have much preferred a stripped logo, at least there is now an official on screen box to replace the half-hashed box(es) that are floating about now.

Certainly looks like something I will have to see on screen first before commenting on but the box looks very isolated and out of place.

Love the 10 in the globe... more subtle than the huge silver numbers we have at the moment and the box logo may be growing on me. Wink

If I was in charge [rest of TV Forum shudders!], this is how I'd do handovers in and out of the 1, 6 and 10...

In: "Now on BBC One we join BBC News at 6 O'Clock..."

Out: "That's all from the Six O'Clock News, bye for now."

Simple, none of the confusion of the current set-up, no need to explain to BBC One viewers that they can watch news "where you are" as I'm sure they know that.

Just thought are we going to see any major changes in the way News 24/BBC News Channel is presented. I mean now they're in N6 are we going to see more standing up and walking about or do you think they will be fixed at the desk as they seem to be at the minute. With all this title talk I'd just not thought about it!

And do we think the sport/business slots will be at the new oval desk or on stools/ soft chairs in the corner?

Yeah I like the idea that BBC One is joinging BBC News at Six rather than News 24 having the Six aswell as BBC1. I'd expect it to stay how it is....

"This is BBC One. Now the news with XXXXXX and XXXXXX."

Out of interest do we know if the BBC News 24 and BBC World countdown are going to stay, be revamped or dropped completely in the new look?

Without the channel being called News 24, having 24 hundredths of a second on the countdown of each second is simply not physics.

And before someone points it out it's nothing to do with fps.
