Has to be said the new backdrop for N6 looks far superior to what we currently have! I'm actually looking at this positively, even about the name!
Like said, much of the public will continue to refer to it as News 24 (as I'm sure a few presenters will by mistake
) but I get the impression the new 'BBC News' is designed to feel far superior to Sky's. Impressive set, titles, name, Huw Edwards and it's massive network of regions, correspondents and the different sources and feeds.
All I will say is it feels far too similar to when they moved into the last N6 set - red and black newsroom backdrop but with cream titles. I just can't imagine the white titles going with that backdrop!
Anyone else think the new 'BBC News [channel]' will have more of a structure to it? Also calling it 'BBC News' solves any problems of simulcasts and handing over!
So for all those who claim to have seen the regions titles, tell me their names are staying as current? They try really hard to be about community and helping old ladies cross the road, so changing the name would surely damage that!

The swirling "ribbons" or circles are quite similar to the redesign in that there are several of them in different shades and colours on NWT, and have the same general shape to the new BBC News.
To be fair, the North West Tonight do match the black and red, but the North West Breakfast Opt ones look more like the new titles.

How does NWT look similar? It has the black and red theme with the swirling ribbons on the edge of the images, and no box with 'BBC News' plonked in it! It's not very orange, grey and white is it?

Is that what the globe image that has already been posted is meant to represent...lines connecting between places, such as Cairo, Berlin and Baghdad?
It's like it was before with random town names, it's just highlighted cities and towns. It's more a refresh of 1999 than the 2003/2004 look.
And the city names were the 'cats cradle' reference made a few weeks ago!

I wonder if a similar idea could be used for the titles of shows like World News America, Asia Business Report, etc, showing the map of the region, along with lines connecting the cities in those regions.

Breakfast is remaining in TC7 along with the 6 O'Clock News.
So News 24 - sorry, the BBC News Channel
- will be able to break away from both Breakfast and the 6, only being tied to the 1 and 10. Not too bad then?
Not too bad, but I would think the 1 is the bulletin where it's most likely News 24 would have to opt out - rolling news stories seem to break during the day more than the evening.
Well if
N24
are to be producing it, maybe we will see more breaking news emerge!
Also does anyone know if the presenters of the 1 and 6 will stay on to finish their program's 'hour'? This would work best in my view and really adds value to the 'hour'! Though I'm not getting my hopes up

Will Breakfast be getting its own new look, and moving into N6 in the mornings, or will it now stay in TC17 and keep its current look.

I was talking about the North West Today lines from city to city, but that also looks like a Cats Cradle.

But perhaps as the 1 would find it easier to drop the planned news and cover any breaking news?
That's what I said!
Although personally I hope it doesn't - the point of BBC 1 bullitens is to give a round up of the news, not report live as it happens. That's the job of the news channel!

The One O'Clock News will need to be more informal than other bulletins and go with the flow more in terms of the news agenda.
