Alright, no need to get shirty. Maybe they'll do it just for the BBC One bulletins. It would look a bit strange if you're watching N24 at 1859 and suddenly it becomes dark at 1900.

Well they're hardly going to have a bloody black night like scene in the background like it is there at 11 o'clock in the morning now, are they?

That's the second fake newsroom backdrop.
Yes, hence i said it looks like the 'FIRST' fake newsroom backdrop!
But it doesn't look like the first one, it looks like the second one - the one I posted.
Hello! McFly! It's not a real backdrop, it's on screens! It can be changed at the flick of a switch!

It certainly does just look like the first 'fake' newsroom backdrop from the previous set. Think we will just have to wait to see the full changes on screen before we pull it apart too much.

I would think changing backdrops would be more of an effort than it's worth. They only have minutes, if not seconds, between bulletins and having to switch backdrops surely would lead to errors?

Do people have to be so horrible here? You'd benefit from learning some manners.
The point I was trying to make was that changing the backdrop - even if it is just flicking a switch - is one more thing for the director to remember and one more thing that could go wrong. At what times would they change the backdrop? If they overran that time with breaking news and forget, when would it change then? Unless it's automated, it could end up being more trouble than it's worth.

That's all Sky have to do but yet they manage to muck it up quite a lot (Wrong programme name on the desk etc.)

What if it is automatic, so it would fade between views every so often, with the fade lasting for about five minutes.

Are Lambie Nairn unable to come up with anything original now then? We have a studio which is little more than a rehash of the previous one and titles which are just milking a decade old idea for all it's worth. I guess that's what happens then when you revamp for revamps sake (on a budget!).
It still pisses me off how BBC Arabic can get two studios, while News 24 doesn't even get one.

I think it was during a package on TV trickery a few months ago on Newsnight - noddie shots, that kind of thing - that Kirsty Wark ended her bit to camera by showing the whole Newsnight set going from 'default' to 'Newsnight' modes literally in couple of seconds. The backdrop, colours, light positions, everything changed instantly.
So I think it would actually be possible to switch from one 'look' to another - it would all be automated and easily set up.

Lambie-Nairn don't get to tell the BBC what studios to use, they are asked to rebrand all BBC News output, and are forced to do the best with what the BBC have.
We do also pay for BBC Arabic, but their budget is separate from the license fee, which hasn't increased enough to spair BBC news this horrendous cost cutting measure.
