Unless you have a slave, not many people would be saying that.

Though possibly, if you happen (by a freak of nature) to live with somebody else.

Verbally mentioning it is not so bad, I just want the 24 from the logo and titles dropped. We all need to get used to it, because post digital switchover, the BBC One bulletins will likely go, and so if you want to see the news, you'll head for "BBC News".

Why do we need to get used to it? It's one channel which will be named News 24, not the whole operation.

I don't. I honestly can't understand why the BBC would want to ruin this branding of "BBC News 24" that has been so effective over the past 10 years. I see nothing wrong with the titles and the DOG containing "BBC News 24"

Three people have asked for a source on this, no-one has replied. Where exactly has this "rumor / fact" come from?

I've had it confirmed from someone I trust, hence changing the thread title.

If they're wrong, they lose their testicles.

Well, shouting Put BBC News on the TV is a tad rude. You could:

1. Turn it over yourself
2. Keep your partner and ask them to turn over
3. If you're going to say something like that, you could say "Put 503/80/601 on"

I am the Lord of the Remote, so I don't need to use stupid codes - at least 503 is the channel number.

Where have you got that idea from - there has been absolutely no indication that bulletins would be dropped from BBC1. It is still their flagship channel, and will continue to show their flagship bulletins - they're probably legally obliged too actually.

They shouldn't be dumping a brand which has established itself so well in such a short time just because you don't like the logo!

Absolute insanity. News 24 has become a well recognised and respected brand over the past 10 years and they're going to throw all that away for some super generic "BBC News" brand?

"BBC News" is an umbrella name for various outlets - national news, local news, N24, website... the list goes on. Naming an established channel with such a generic name is ridiculous.

Exactly. Kind of echoes of the Grandstand situation - they went on about "BBC Sport" being the brand, but failed to realise how important it was to have brands like "Grandstand" to help boost the "BBC Sport" brand.

Remove the "News 24" brand and the "BBC News" brand will be weaker - even if the service itself isn't changing.

Wasn't the dropping of the '24' first mentioned a couple of years back, remember reading about it as an aside to a longer BBC News article.

Get the idea of a cross platform brand, but there's still people who refer to Breakfast Time, including Sir Steve Redgrave on a recent appearance!

Might take 20 or so years to get used to it all...
