You've lost in Martin. Totally!
Are you saying that BBC News is one thing and the One O'Clock News is another? Surely the One O'Clock news is made by BBC News!
Snappy!

What I hope they're doing, is still calling the channel News 24 verbally, but just having BBC NEWS on the DOG and titles. They could do the same for the 1, 6 and 10 - remove the silly big numbers off the titles, but still keep the programme names in the intro - "Now on BBC One, the One O'Clock News..."

Yep i hope so too! News 24 is a powerful brand.
"Put BBC News on the TV!"
"Do you mean BBC One, BBC Two or Sky Channel 503??!!!!!!"

Whilst dropping the '24' would make it easier when signing out of the simulcast bulletins it's not going to change the way people think of the channel.
It's known as 'News 24', no need for the 'BBC bit' in conversation because people know what you mean. I can't see any branding advantage in changing the on-screen name.

Absolute insanity. News 24 has become a well recognised and respected brand over the past 10 years and they're going to throw all that away for some super generic "BBC News" brand?
"BBC News" is an umbrella name for various outlets - national news, local news, N24, website... the list goes on. Naming an established channel with such a generic name is ridiculous.
When it was first muted on here, several of us pointed out the daft cross-promotion waffle. From the painfully obvious "continuing coverage on BBC News 24" to now what? "More on the BBC News channel"? "More on BBC News on Sky channel 503, Freeview..."?
Just plain stupid. Hope someone comes in like they did with "Sky Sports.com TV", realise the error and soon reinstate it.
Throwing away the 1/6/10 numbers too I presume?

Unless you have a slave, not many people would be saying that.
