Does Bill Turnbull still present Breakfast ?

Yes, Although he has joined Songs of Praise and sometimes they could record it during his Stints on Breakfast.

Has there been an announcement re the news Business Editor?

No some speculation from the Spectator though with an interesting update at he end, http://blogs.spectator.co.uk/coffeehouse/2013/10/kuenssberg-pym-davis-kennedy-islam-perry-who-will-be-the-bbcs-next-business-editor/
Also some good career advice to Laura Kuenssberg.

It's absurd that they even included Evan Davis in that list - incredibly unlikely to give up Today for a job similar to his last one. Laura Kuenssberg is a possibility, but I have always thought it is far more likely they will look for (a woman) from the print world. My money at the moment would be on Gillian Tett.

Agreed on all points - I'll be a little disappointed if Tett doesn't get it. And I suspect Laura will return to politics - probably at ITV (Bradby successor, anyone?) - before any return to the BBC.

So an explanation for Bill's absence from the sofa. The Mirror says that he has been hit by illness, and that he could be off for up to two months, though Bill says otherwise below.

He also tweeted, after some absence from the site:

Get well soon Bill!

This is from the BBC Breakfast Thread - Bill should be back in the next few weeks Smile

Who presented the BBC News at Five O'Clock and the 6.30-9pm shift today?
And was Matthew Amroliwala, live from the Royal Court of Justic, present for either of these shifts?

Applications for Business Editor don't close until November 12th. So don't expect a decision soon.

Ditto above poster. That would explain the lack of hand bling tonight, that she normally wears.

Whatever she may be dealing with atm, I send my best wishes to Tanya as well, she's an EPIC oldskool presenter.

It's about time we were using photographs in this thread to illustrate 'creepy' and 'intrusive'.

Does anyone else here think that Ben Brown & Sophie Long are an excellent pairing? They always seem to be very engaging, light-hearted and entertaining when they're on with each other. I also think that Matthew & Emily should present more often with each other. Matthew and Jane, although clearly talented, were much better in their old shift.

Nicholas Owen has had a long day today. He presented the 9-4pm shift, and is now on the evening bulletins!
