Lucy Hockings and Babita for now. We've had Karin Giannone dropping in every now and then, and rare appearances of Mike Embley.
I think David Eades is proving to be pretty good, has his way of keeping the news flowing and seems a pleasant personality overall, wouldn't mind him at all. While we're at it, he was presenting GMT yesterday, and last weekend bulletins. I think David has been with the channel for a long and is quite senior, so it would be good if he has a programme under his name.
Who's been covering for Mishal Husain on Impact? Just to add to the discussion, would giving David Eades or Nik Gowing this slot be a wise move?

House's post about who's to say that the person who will take over from Mishal will be a current BBC World News has got me thinking about possible candidates for the role from outside of BBC WN. I was just wandering what people would think about either of the following Luisa Baldini or Riz Lateef? Luisa obviously has covered major events in Italy such as the death of Pope John Paul II and is an experienced correspondent, she's also I think I'm right in saying had relief stints at presenting on the BBC NC.
I thought of the possibility of Riz when she did the Nationals at the weekend, she seems to have been in the position of occasional national appearances for a while and I was wandering whether a spot on World News perhaps combined with this would be seen as a progression in her career from BBC London News?

Regarding Impact lets start with what we know:
- It's currently a female line-up, and giving the reason Mishal has moved to Today they're not about to kick off the sexism card again by moving the main daytime (for UK clockface) flagship to an all male line-up (well unless George leaves GMT as it's unlikley Sopel would already leave given it's only just started) when the offical line is to increase female airtime (target of 50% in local radio at breakfast for instance).
- Impact is targeted at the Asian audience (hence Impact Asia as it was) and is their flagship broadcast, with Newsday their morning show and so this is their evening offering
Thus, we are looking at a female and one who fits the target audience for the region (Babita, Lucy, Yalda (less likely given relatively new and better suited arguably to field like Lyse and also would mean two Aussies if Lucy was still relief) or a new face from outside))
Given it hasn't been immeidately announced who will take over, it would logically mean that it will be advertised internally and externally (if needs) for the new anchor whoever they may be.
However, given it's a flagship programme (and for Newsday they frequently use freelancers to fill the shifts unlike Impact), and needs a strong presenter and personaility it's unlikley that it could go to an inexperienced anchor. Usually in these situations you take either the relief or sister programmes presenter whom is then promoted. I really can't see beyond Barita joining, whether in place of Mishal or filling Lucy's slot who moves to take over the main role. The only curveball I can see is Tony Hall's stated objective to double the world audience, so an appoitment of a high-profile presenter at a rival to bring in the masses. I still think thought that surely we'd be better off speculating who would fill the Newsday slot?

Yes, I can't see George giving up GMT as he has commitments on domestic with the News at Six. If Babita Sharma got the post permeantly, would Kasia Madeira take over as the sole Newsday presenter in London? It would be nice to see Karin Gianonne present a major slot on World News and have a similar rise to prominence as Martine Croxall and a few others on the News Channel. There is a chance to bring in a new rising star with Impact.

Kate Silverton isn't doing much nowadays, i think her or Sian Williams would be good in the role.

I had a niggly feeling this would happen:
I don't suppose there is a better person to succeed Stephanie than Robert!
The post of BBC Biz Ed will be available soonish because - after 8 action-packed years - am moving seat a few places to be Econ Ed

Personally from watching the BBC output I would have considered Business Editor as being a higher position the Economics Editor. Being Business Editor gave Peston a wider range of areas to cover e.g. Phone Hacking while he also commented on Economics matters also. Quite a strange decision IMO

But a welcome one if it means we get less airtime of Peston and his awful way of speaking (emphasising the incorrect words in every sentence etc)
