Is Lucy Hockings the new No1. for Impact now? It surely looks like she's the most likely .

I actually think it is highly unlikely that Lucy gets the post. I'm sure she will be the defacto presenter until they announce who is getting the job (which might take them months - January relaunch?) but is probably not considered a big enough name to front it permenantly. I suspect that will go to either Babita Sharma or Yalda Hakim.

Wow I was thinking Lucy has been long enough on it that she should be it. Yalda Hakim has never done Impact before I think and is pretty new, like many times newer than Lucy.

Maxine appears every now and then, more frequently than during the last TVC era. Doesn't she work fewer hours on Saturdays now?

Fewer on Sundays - 3. Still 6 on Saturdays

Yes, I agree - Lucy is very good on Impact and has been around a while now so I would hope she is in with a shout for something permanent. Not sure if the dishy Ros Atkins or the excellent Karin Giannone are also in the running with this? To be honest they may have some sort of set up like Zeinab Badawi and Philippa Thomas on WNT? I am not sure if Yalda Hakim would be given a desk job just yet given her fantastic work out in the field - she is still rather young so may eventually build up to something in the studio but I see her following in the foot steps of Lyce Doucet though.

Who's to say it will necessarily be a current World News presenter? After all, did anyone see Jon Sopel's addition coming? Or for that matter Naga Munchetty, Ros Atkins or Komla Dumor? And some, like Kasia Madera and Babita Sharma, have had months-long assignments before they became regular presenters.

I wonder what World viewers would make of Anita Anand, for example? Or how about Katya Adler?

It's unlikely to be Ros Atkins, as he is shortly launching a new radio programme, which will also eventually become a World News TV programme in the New Year.

Has Lyce Doucet always been an outdoor reporter since the beginning or only moving out in recent years? Thought I saw her in a couple of BBC bulletins and Impact too on retro vids.

Lyse was predominantly a foreign correspondent in the past. From 2000, she began to combine newscasting with field reporting. This continued right up until mid 2012, when her focus moved back to the field again, being formally named as Chief International Correspondent.

Since mid 2012, her studio appearances have been quite rare, notably 3 days of Impact from NBH after the relaunch and move.

She continues to anchor/lead top of the hour inputs from location though.

I rarely get chance to see The Papers on BBC News - but must say that Martine Croxall is excellent presenting it. A very good match to Anna Botting.

Looks quite pregnant now

Yeah I also don't think Lucy will get picked. I'm pretty sure they will give it to Babita since she sort of deserves a more high profile spot and would be great for Impact. Maybe they could split the shifts between Lucy and Babita.

Good to see Robert Hall presenting on the News channel again today. Has he presented any relief shifts recently?

Yes. He has presented the weekend 4-8pm shift a few times since the move, as well as anchoring the 8-12 weekend shift, incorporating the Papers, and has made one or two weekday appearances, notably on the 11am-2pm shift.

Riz Lateef presenting the Weekend News tonight, which is a nice change to Clive Myrey or Kate Silverton
