Why does everyone dislike Gavin Grey?

I think he comes over as a little one-dimensional and bland. Competent, but unremarkable.

I think that's a problem the News Channel has more generally, not just with Gavin.

Mishal Hussain on Today this morning! There had been no advance publicity saying when she would be starting. Currently playing her Malala interview as the 8.10.

She seemed to do a brilliant job from what I heard, and I saw plenty of nice comments from her colleagues on twitter this morning.

Also, her voice was made for radio.

At first I was a fan of his presentation, but after a while he becomes smug, annoying and un-likeable.

I do find it interesting that they're using Gavin Grey over Adam Parsons, Rachel Schofield, or Sue Thearle. Has Sue appeared on the BBC since March?

I thought Rachel Schofield had left the BBC but would return if they were really desperate in a freelance role?

Nail on the head and certain presenters should go back to reporting imho.

Isn't Adam doing 5 live's 'wake up to money' in Salford.

Interresting that on one hand Mishal implied the programme in its current form will live on, while on the other another hasn't yet been announced. For one of their flagship programmes, and considering the move has been known about publically since July, I wonder why they haven't announced a replacement yet?

Also, just throwing this out there... Jon Sopel for Today. Assuming John Humphrys steps down in 2015, Today will have just one presenter known for political interviews and coverage - the brilliant James Naughtie. The other presenters are all more than deserving of their places on the programme, but Husain won't make a good (likely) direct replacement for Humphrys in a way that, perhaps, Martha Kearney or Emily Maitlis would have done.

A team of Naughtie, Montague, Webb, Davis and Husain would just feel a bit of balance, and Nick Robinson or Jon Sopel would easily redress the balance.
