I saw Babita on Impact at least once this week. I'd really like her to replace Mishal when she moves on to Today.

I was trying to figure the Today presenter thing out earlier - logically, as far as I can tell, they do not need Mishal Husain.

The programme has five presenters, who collectively present 12 shifts a week (often in addition to other duties, like Mastermind, The Bottom Line, Hardtalk and R4 Docus etc.). An average of 2.2 days a week.

One of the five - James Naugtie - will be reporting on the Scottish referendum and presenting 'Good Morning Scotland' from Edinburgh, but will still present Today. It is not unusual for a Today presenter to host on location, an when they do they still present half the programme. So unless they invisage having two London-based presenters even if Naughtie is presenting from Scotland, will they really need Husain? And if they do, surely she'd be part time on the programme?

Plus by the 2015 election Naughtie will have returned and Today will have six presenters.

Even if she's 'full-time' in a few weeks Husain would only be on the programme a couple of times a week. Even with the Sunday television bulletins, a three day week doesn't sound like good use of a cash-strapped broadcaster's "rising star" considering she's curently five days a week. With that in mind, and considering the press releases made no mention of her leaving BBC World News and she was part of recent publicity shots for them, are we sure she's leaving World?

Can noone else see Impact using Husain and another senior presenter like Zeinab Badawi or Yalda Hakim, rather than replacing Husain outright?

I wouldn't be surprised. World News may like to retain her, given she is a pretty big name on the channel, but equally they may like Impact having a face that will appear daily on the programme to attain greater continuity.

I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

It seems certain it was Lord Hall's direct appointment to the job, so it may have been the case of what says goes.

Well even when she was the face of Impact she had a bunch of fill ins so it really wouldn't change much if she stayed but did it only ocasionally.

Is Juliette Foster still with BBC News? Since the move and the axing of the business bulletins on the News channel - she hasn't appeared.

Such a great shame. She was an excellent all rounder on Sky News as a general presenter - and another underused presenter on the BBC.

Has she ever presented any general news bulletins or hours on BBC World News?

She has made it clear on a number of occasions on twitter that the only tv news work she will continue with is the Sunday bulletins. Naughtie and Humphrys are both unlikely to remain after 2015/6 according to Steve Hewlett.

V rarely, he is clearly being shunted aside like Edward Stourton was for Justin Webb.

James is very popular, an incredibly strong broadcaster, and one of the only politically-big-hitting presenters on Today. Unlike when they announced Stourton's departure it was widely reported, including in the press release, that Naughtie will return full-time to Today before the 2015 election. While I can see Humphrys stepping down in 2015 (and his two year contract would be up then, according to reports), I can't see Today keen to lose Naughtie.

*Of course, this assumes the Scots don't break away. In the even that independence did occur, I can imagine Naughtie becoming host of BBC Scotland's flagship broadcast.

Yes, she has appeared on BBCWN after move to NBH, although not regularly I'd think. Saw her once in a blue moon on World Today (5 am UKT), sitting in for Sally Bundock/Alice Baxter. She is usually teamed up with Naga Munchetty, and the two of them look great together and they seem to be rather cheerful during those pair-ups. Some chemistry there. Don't think she does general news, just business.

Seemless transition by Tanya Beckett from WBR presenter to BBCWN presenter when Kenyatta speech broadcasts... but it seems the link between Mike Wooldridge are having some problems.
