Jo Black from Look East is reporting from Leciester this afternoon, are the news channel short of presenters, normally local presenters if first at the scene are replaced later on?

I remember last week (or the week before), she presented from Luton Crown Court for the News Channel about that Milton Keynes Golf Course Murder. But when it came to Network Bulletins they went to the Senior Correspondent.

Yes, she does bits for the News channel around the UK now. I happened to bump into her when she came into our radio station to do record a TV interview - and she seemed to like being out on the road.

I'm a Look East viewer and I think Jo normally presents from the west of the county (Northampthon, Milton Keynes, Peterborough etc). She may live in the Leicester area, that could be why she presented.

When was the last time Sian Williams presented BBC News?

Not sure when she was last on, but the reason she's been off-air for so long is that she's studying for a masters in psychology to work as a peer mentor for colleagues who have been working on distressing stories. There was an article in one of the papers a while back.

Last time she was on was July the 25th. She's been off a very long time. But it's good that she's found herself a new fulfilling job away from the studio.

Wow, good on her! Does this mean she'll still present the One, or will Kate take over permanently, seen as she's been presenting the last couple of weeks?

I could imagine Sian balancing her work as a peer mentor with her work newsreading, well I hope so anyway. She's been away from Saturday Live, but I'm sure she'll be back there quite soon.

From the couple of interviews and articles I've read, I've come away with the impression she'd already started peer-mentoring, and felt a degree in psychology would aid her ability to help colleagues in that role. She also said at the end of her last Saturday Live that she would be going 'on leave', so I'd imagine she's currently on some form of sabbatical. If she is, there's no reason to think she won't return to the same responsibilities when it ends.

Out of curiosity, does anyone know how much prep work goes into Saturday Live? Sian's meant to spent two days a week with Radio 4, but I believe only works on Saturday Live for them, so I assume the other day a week is spent preparing for that. Still, I wonder how many days a week are spent by the editorial team in order to produce a 90-minute programme? Does anyone know how big radio production teams are?

Also while on the subject, Annita Anand and in particular Suzy Klein have both been great hosts while Sian's been away.

Actually, Lucy has been doing Impact all week, as far as I remember... same goes to Global with a mixture of Tim and Ros.
