Maybe the pre-recorded content has some influence on the higher ratings as well. I think Click has quite a following.

Is that an offscreen 'editor' position, or an onscreen one?

Could be. But usually they bring in another presenter (Annita Mcveigh, Nick Owen)

Emily would usually do the 5. It could be because he started early at 13:30.

It seems like it's a first time for Komla on Global from the way Karin chatted with him at the end of Impact. Nevertheless he put on a great show for Global, I actually like him doing Global compared with the occasional stints on The World Today. Global suits him pretty well. Unfortunately for yesterday, he tried to call the U.S. ocean swimmer twice, but she apparently she didn't hear him, and he had to keep introducing himself, "Hello, this is Komla, the BBC.". Anyway, it's good the way he handled the slight 'disappointment'.

Interesting of his self-promo ad:
"Whether a cab driver or a waiter, I just like to meet people and have a conversation with them. There are stories particularly serious, you'll see it on my face. But if there's a need for me to have a laugh, look I'll have a laugh. I gotta ask you about this... (laughs hysterically). I have no problem showing who I am. I'm Komla Dumor. Join me on my show, Focus on Africa, on BBC World News."
