Has Kate Silverton ever presented the News at 10 before last night (excluding the weekend one)? They should really use her more often on it.

Sorry if I'm not too in the know, but why is George (I assumed it's Alagiah), always mentioned as presenting 10 and another slot often here? Why did he shifted away from BBCWN's GMT for so long, and isn't Kate Silverton supposed to be a regular on the other news channel, where George is at the moment, and why the sudden 'swap'?

George Alagiah is one of the senior news presenters at the BBC. He's been absent from GMT because he's been working different hours: presenting his own Six O'clock News, as well as filling in for Huw Edwards on News at Ten. Therefore, someone else has been filling in on GMT which occurs much earlier in the day.

Kate Silverton is a BBC News relief presenter, with commitments to BBC National News, the BBC News Channel and BBC World News.

It's not really been a sudden swap. It's probably been long planned since, this year, many presenters appear to be away on vacation all at the same time, being August.

Apart from once or twice, I don't think Kate Silverton has done anything on the news channel for a number of years (except simulcast network bulletins of course)

She's much more frequent on World than she is on the News Channel. In fact, she's been quite busy this week, presenting GMT twice, the Na6 and Na10 last night and the Saturday bulletins this evening. The last time she appeared presenting a shift on NC was last year with Tim Willcox, I believe, in the 830-11 slot.

Ah, I see. Btw, I haven't seen Tim Wilcox on World for a long time. He used to be seen on a regular basis there.

He presented Global every day last week (12th to 15th inclusive). He also presented GMT on Friday 23rd August.

He also presented the 830-11 shift this week on the NC in place of Simon.
