Are the numbers in brackets a number of days the presenter worked?

I think that it is the number of shifts...but I don't know if it includes network bulletins.

The number of shifts in brackets is only for shifts on the BBC News Channel. I understand that the list is not very well comprised, and BBC News Fix shall recount the numbers at the end of September when the next quarterly update is published. I think that for a first attempt there were mistakes, and the next count shall include ANY WORK a BBC News Channel presenter has done + ANY ON-LOCATION WORK.

There still remains one question............what's the point?!

And logic finally returns after a worrying absense.

So good to hear that logic's back. Which bulletin did he present? Or was he on the News Channel? Which female presenter was he paired with? How was their on-screen chemistry? Oh, I'm so excited Very Happy

I wonder why he turned to the left screen instead of the right screen earlier. Was it personal choice? Does his neck hurt if he turns to the right? Has he fallen out with someone on that side of the newsroom? So many questions!

World: Alice Baxter is still on-air now at 6pm, having started with the 5am TWT slot this morning with Naga Munchetty. Both are back tomorrow at 5am as well.

Naga also did GMT today.

Alice is, at this moment, doing WN instead of Lucy Hockings, who's filling-in for Mishal Husain, who's been deployed to Cairo, as noted above.

I wonder why Lyse Doucet or Ben Brown weren't deployed to Cairo, as would normally be the case.

And, Katya Adler coming up with World News Today shortly.

Ben Brown hasn't appeared on the BBC News Channel this week, so it must be his week off, hence him not being deployed to Cairo. In regards to Mishal Husain doing it, she is better known to viewers in the UK than Lyse is, and is well known on world, so it's a win win situation.

Was browsing through some of the twitter accounts and I read Lyse Doucet said she's off to Singapore to meet Rico Hizon and the Newsday team a while ago. Not sure what's the purpose, but that explains a little to why she wasn't deployed at Cairo.

Bethany Bell has been covering from Cairo these couple of days. I think so far we have Jeremy Bowen, Bethany Bell and Mishal Husain there?

Yes, I think he's been presenting Impact occasionally as of late. Babita used to take Impact at relief times in the past, I guess it's now Mike. I saw Karin G. doing it last Friday too. Think it will be some time before Mishal embarks on Radio 4.

What was Rajesh Mirchandani like at anchoring coverage on NC with Joanna today? I was surprised to see him in the lead role, but I didn't get to see much of him.

He was not too bad. They do seem to be using a lot of correspondents to present recently, such as Ian Pannel?

I think it's good that their bringing new faces to the channel, but I suppose they're short on the ground anyway it being the summer holidays. In other news, Sophie Long will be presenting the 9-12 shift tonight in place of Clive Myrie. First since the move, I believe. I wonder why they've moved her to this slot, instead of getting another relief presenter being there?

Well, I don't understand why they wouldn't just get someone else to do the 9-12 shift instead...it would cause less fuss. But maybe it's just to see her in a different role, presenting on her own.

That makes no sense - she's a relief presenter relief presenting. The only unusual thing is it's her first time on the slot and even that's not exactly unusual.
