Does anyone know what accent is Julie Peacock inclined towards? At least to me, her accent seems rather different from the majority of news readers at BBCWN. She seems to pronounce words, for instance UK (normally pronounced 'You Kay') as 'You-Key' or 'You-Kee'.

She is Scottish, so her accent will be rather distinct from the southern accents/RP mixture you tend to get. I would guess that she is from around Glasgow, but that's only a guess.

I think your right? but I may be wrong. But she was formally at Reporting Scotland as a reporter.

Does anyone know who presented the One today? I'm assuming it wasn't Sophie because she was covering (again) on the Six, and will probably do the Ten, seen as Huw didn't do the five.

They don't seem keen on consistency on the one anymore do they? McCoy, Silverton, Williams, Sopel, Hill have all been on in the last couple of months, plus the likes of Maitlis and Amwroliwala. Oh, and someone called Sophie has done a day or two.

I'd rather they stuck to a single person to cover if Sophie and Sian aren't there. Jane Hill, who always seemed to present if Anna Ford and Darren Jordan were absent, is still underused on BBC One bulletins.

Is there a major reshuffle of BBC correspondents worldwide? I noticed in the promo for Middle East Business Report, it features a considerably tall woman wearing black-rimmed glasses, with a seemingly Australian accent, instead of the usual Nima. I came across a report on the BBC website that Nick Bryant has just been relieved from Australia, and is going to be stationed in the States soon. Last report from him was the Julia Gillard's oust. And I saw (Edit: Should be Katy Watson I think, not Stephanie Hancock) from middle east business report seems to be reporting from Washington now. What's going on?

Nick Bryant left the BBC a couple of years ago. His inputs on BBC News currently are on a freelance basis.

Katy Watson, hitherto a Dubai based reporter for BBC News, is now presently based in Washington.

The Australian lady you refer to on MEBR is Desley Humphrey. She is a freelance reporter and also works for the ARN Radio Network in Dubai as a Business Reporter.

Nima Abu Wardeh is still on the programme, but didn't anchor it for the last two weeks. She's done reports though. This has happened before. Summer season, I guess.

Rajini Vaidyanathan has left BBC Mumbai. She is now freelance and is currently posting/reporting for the BBC in New York and Washington.

Rajesh Mirchandani, occasional anchor of World News America from Washington, has now left the Washington Bureau. He is now back in London and titled World Affairs Correspondent.

And his replacement, Duncan Kennedy, didn't seem to stick around in the outback for long. If he's in the UK ans Bryant is in the States, any idea who will be covering Australia? And has Barbara Plett left/moved, as Nick Bryant's new remit includes covering the UN I believe?

Also Jonathan Beale was reporting, I think, from the Middle East the other day in a more world affairs-type role. Is he no longer defense?

Not sure if he is freelance or BBC Staff, but Phil Mercer is used by the BBC for Australian stories sometimes

Great info there! Must be end of contract season for the correspondents or something, otherwise there wouldn't be so many transfers.

Glad I detected the Australian accent right.

It was good to see Rachel Schofield back in the morning slot yesterday! Now, we only have to wait for Sue Thearle to appear, which will hopefully be soon after Wimbledon!

Michael Peschardt was also a familiar face reporting for the BBC in Australia (as well as filling in as a presenter on Breakfast News or Breakfast ISTR)
