Unless I'm mis-remembering, I think there have been weekdays recently where the weather forecaster on the News at Six is the same forecaster who appears on BBC London News in the 6:30pm programme. It didn't used to happen very often in the past - BBC London at 6:30pm always tended to have a different forecaster from the national bulletin.
Cost-cutting, I'm assuming?
And this oddity has been around ever since BBC London axed the evening weather shift on Weds-Fri. When Peter Cockroft left, Wendy Hurrell initially did Mon-Tues until she was given the Arts brief with network covering the rest of the week. Now on Mon-Tues they seem to get either Elizabeth Rizzini, a London hub freelancer or network.
With Wimbledon coming up, the local or network presenter normally presents the forecast from the All England Tennis Club on the 1330 and 1830 bulletins, which may mix it up again.

BBC London's weather summary on the Ten tonight was presented by Nick Miller - followed immediately by the national forecast, with Nick Miller. I suppose it makes sense to have the same person doing both - it's just a slightly clumsy transition between the two.

A little odd that Joanna Gosling only done the first hour of Newsroom Live today yet Carrie Gracie came back for the second (she also done News at Mine).
JO
That must have cost a bit. Did you go through her agent?

I noticed that as well, doesn't make any sense to bring someone in just to present a single hour of news on the news channel, then vanish. They might as well have kept Carrie to do the full Newsroom Live segment instead of changing it to Joanna for the section that was primarily simulcast to BBC Two.

Don't they usually have to keep a second present in the Newsroom to take over if a presenter needs to come off air? It may be that Carrie needed to come off air and therefore Joanna stepped in as she was in the Newsroom but then Carrie took back over at a sensible point/break to do so.

I think she just does one offs for whoever these days ?
Don't know if this has already been mentioned but Fiona Philips presented Panorama on Monday. Is she working for the beeb full time or not?

I believe she's freelance as she's doing a Channel 5 documentary tonight.

Does anyone know when Faisal Islam was meant to start as Economics Editor at the BBC? Kamal is still on the countdown, which is odd because he isnβt really a front-of-screen journalist now, and i have yet to see an actual report where Faisal presented it, most of them being by Simon Jack or Dharshini David (sp).
