The afternoon business bulletins on the News Channel were presented by a new person, but does anyone know them? I didn’t catch the name but it seemed like they were Irish based on accent?

Tadhg Enright I think - he used to present the business bulletins on Sky a fair bit back in the days when Sky still cared about business news and had the likes of Joel Hills, Dharshini David, Jeff Randall.

Always remember him being pretty good on Sky.

I agree 100% what he said. Was he punished or something? Twitter didn’t do their birthday thing with balloons.

I saw something from the guardian suggesting that Fran Unsworth told employees not to put their views on the issue of education surrounding LGBT relationships on twitter.

That’s ridiculous. LGBT rights should be taught in schools so its normalized and hopefully lead to less bullying. It’s not like they’ll be talking about sex.

Sadly there are some people who think otherwise, mostly misunderstanding the point of this education programme, but a minority were using blatantly homophobic language and their religion as an excuse for it. Some parents kept their children out of school in protest, which has since evolved into visible protests outside schools, and has become a subject of debate because the media gave those people a voice, and they got the support of an MP (my MP).

The BBC has made a misjudgement in treating this as a political issue and an attempt to be to be balanced in its coverage, just like it has in the past when covering climate change. The result is we end up with poorly worded questions on QT and Women's Hour which I'm sure had all good intentions but are frankly insulting to people who identify as LGBT+.

It can't be long until Fiona Bruce leaves BBC News, she's hardly on it these days, Sophie Raworth seems to of taken over the Friday six and ten.

Is Sophie back doing the One now George is back?

Sophie isn't back on the one as George hasn't come back full time (unless he dosen't do Mondays anymore)

When you add in planning and production time, and consider that it's on location, it's probably more like 2-3 days a week.

I swear I see Sophie and Clive more on the BBC bulletins than Huw nowadays.

If Fiona does step away completely it might make sense to put George in that role and have Sophie or Clive (or arguably there are better candidates at the BBC) officially become the main 6pm presenter. From the discussions in other threads about 1999 I do think BBC News is in a place again where it would benefit from a bit of a presenter shake up too.
