Jane started with BBC Radio 5 Live in 1994, and after twenty-five years BBC staff get a six-month sabbatical, I'm basing this on Carrie Gracie a few years ago (not the pay one)

Carrie's previous sabbatical was nothing to with length of service (the reasons were mentioned in a newspaper article at the time but are not work related so I see no reason to restate them).

I think we're taking this whole work/personal thing to the Nth degree somewhat - there's a newspaper article about it so it's already "out there" and it's hardly speculation etc. if so.

In the words of Patsy Stone, we should all just "relax, Sweetie. Jane will be back soon".

And anyone else who mentions it has to donate £100.00 to the Edina Monsoon Bumbag Foundation. (It does guarantee you a ticket to the PR PR Person Awards Dinner of the Lunch Month).

(Guess who binged on AbFab onboard BA last week..........)

In other news: I'm giving a gold star to Philippa Thomas. The lady is ubercool beyond belief. All those hours on College Green yesterday with fiasco after fiasco in the background, production and technical issues galore. And yet she sailed through it all without batting an eyelid.

That's what you call an anchor! Superb.

Not outrageous at all! Ben Bland is future legendary News at Ten material! A young Alastair Stewart in the making. The more outings the better for this young rising star is what I say.

I hope Ben does get his chance on more network news. He comes across as a very likeable presenter. His delivery is excellent.

Ben’s always good when he does Business Live and Afternoon Live, his exchanges with Simon McCoy on the latter are always amusing.

And I remember him anchoring the lunchtime news on Channel M from the MEN newsroom.
