Hence why many local radio stations network outside of breakfast and "drive time" and become effectively national networks with presumably (mostly) local adverts between 10-4 and usually after 7pm unless something's happened that they think they should deal with locally, like snowfall or something.
They'll also provide 'local' news within an approved area during network hours. For example, a Global station such as Heart or Capital will add a local story to an otherwise national bulletin compiled from London.
