Tina Daheley is moving to Radio 2 to become the breakfast newsreader.

Bit of a curve ball for Tina to go to being a radio newsreader again! I thought once she finished on R1 Breakfast that'd be the end of doing short news bulletins for her and that she'd do more TV (as she had in the months prior to the end of Nick Grimshaw's Breakfast show, when she was very often not present). Equally, guess it might be difficult to find somewhere for her to fit regularly on TV news right now?

Though it's not as if it's a downgrade in terms of station, Radio 2 is a more prestigious gig than Radio 1. It's the most popular programme in radio, assuming ratings don't plummit dramatically under Zoe Ball of course.

I imagine they made it worth her while too,

This also suggests they’ve changed the role possibly into being a journalistic role rather than pure news reading. Slightly surprised with Tina being on the team they’ve retained a dedicated sports presenter.

I don't know about that, it should be possible for her to continue to cover Victoria Derbyshire now that show has moved to 10am, at a pinch - especially if she has time to prep between radio bulletins. Or maybe she could do the One from time to time?

How do Radio 2 newsreaders work, does the Breakfast one carry on for the rest of the morning, like they do on Radio 1.

I am surprised she’s gone back to radio, it did seem she had one foot in the door on the TV News, but that’s maybe because that’s all it was, one foot in the door with no prospect of anything extra. Although she was hardly ever there at the end, she still had Radio 1 to fall back on in the weeks when Breakfast, Victoria Derbyshire etc were all fully staffed.

I believe that Moira just did Breakfast, but I suspect that was more a case of her being considered to be a contributor to the show who also happened to read a news bulletin that the duty newsreader had prepared. With Tina being a "proper" journalist, she may have more of a role in writing the bulletins.

She also presents Woman's Hour from time to time and I think has a regular World Service gig too.

I think Alan Dedicoat does the news on the Ken Bruce show.

Off topic completely but have they named who will stand in for Zoe now when she's off - presumably it won't be Sara Cox now she has drivetime.

He left Radio 2 about three years ago, most of his radio work now is with *.* Magic

Radio 2 and 6 music share a newseader, 2 has bulletins on the hour and 6 on the half hour. Except at Breakfast, when 2 has news every half hour so needs a dedicated presenter.

So does 6 during Breakfast.

I think the 6 music breakfast newsreader sticks around until lunchtime doing the Radio 2 bulletins on the hour, and the 6 music bulletins on the half hour.

Tina has another gig which hasn't been mentioned: the Beyond Today podcast which is recorded during the day are released on BBC Sounds etc. in time for the evening rush hour.

You've probably answered your own question there. If she's writing and preparing the news she won't have time to do the sport as well, especially if Zoes sports person did as much on air as Chris's did
