I expect they’ve had an emergency meeting in Frankie Howerd and it’s been successfully brushed under the carpet.

Yes. Totally. Cool

Having researched this matter, I'm astonished at his comments. He'll face a number of difficult conversations in the coming days. He cannot expect to report on any Football related matter or at crowded events for a few weeks. It'd be 'difficult' if not impossible.

I suspect he'll survive in post but it's a blot on his career that'll never go. He's a decent reporter, but clearly on SocMed tends to allow his opinion to be exposed in discussion.

Indeed he's better at the Sport Editor role than Mihir Bose and David Bond ever were - who were both very wooden on screen. But he's really not covered himself in glory here and I have to say his reporting on the Ben Stokes case a while back left a lot to be desired - it was very obvious what his angle/view was and the BBC reporting was below standard at best in that trial. You expect far better from a News Editor

Nicholas Owen now making his debut on Afternoon Live today. It'll be interesting if Nationwide goes to the Midlands and the other Nick Owen is on.

Nice to see Caroline Wyatt back on screen again, after what seems like ages.

Hope you’re keeping well, Caroline. Loving the new ‘do’.

Been a busy week for David Eades too this week: World News, Global, GMT and, today, back in Studio C with World News again. Always a pleasure to see a senior presenter at the weekends.

Matthew Amroliwala is away. He’ll be anchoring from India in the week ahead, for the BBC World News “Fake News” strand. Ironically.

Really lovely interview with Jonathan Ross by Shaun Ley on the News Channel earlier, talking about Stan Lee after his passing.

Carole Walker in the studio while Simon McCoy is in Westminster right now.

Not sure if Carole has been there all afternoon or has just stepped in now to give Simon a break.

Wouldn't they normally have someone on stand by in the studio in case of technical difficulties?

Makes sense, although it felt a bit strange to go straight to her at 16:30, she did headines, handed over to sport, then did a summary of other news before back to Simon.
