Sophie Long on the late presenting shift today - maybe I haven't tuned in at the right times but haven't seen her present in the studio on the channel for years!

She has presented on the News Channel in recent years, though iirc, her time within the studio stopped around about the time that she was posted to Seoul as a correspondent (which would have been around the same time that Steve Evans left the BBC and there was a vacuum where there wasn't a specially posted correspondent there)

Also, Geeta is covering the morning News Channel shift today. Another day of World News/relief presenters covering the shifts on the channel? Would be awesome to see if true!

What a blast from the past, she used to present the 5amUK hour on CNBC, Capital Connection , with Steve Sedgwick then Beccy Meehan (now Barr, who is now also at the BBC as the weekend BBC North West Today presenter). https://youtu.be/pJW1UohBGi4

Might be controversial, but I’m just wondering if it’s now compulsory that everyone who isn’t a White Male has to write one of these articles.

I’d personally just seen her as someone who has done well and worked her way up the BBC, the fact she was ‘female’ or ‘brown’ never entered my head.

Sounds like Dan Roan may be in a bit of hot water after some very insensitive remarks made (off-air) about the late Leicester chairman Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha while standing next to his memorial.
Incredibly crass and you'd expect a BBC News editor to be much more professional.

Having researched this matter, I'm astonished at his comments. He'll face a number of difficult conversations in the coming days. He cannot expect to report on any Football related matter or at crowded events for a few weeks. It'd be 'difficult' if not impossible.

I suspect he'll survive in post but it's a blot on his career that'll never go. He's a decent reporter, but clearly on SocMed tends to allow his opinion to be exposed in discussion.

Somehow he was allowed to report on the crash for the ten. Why on earth that wasn't that report revoiced.
