Probably the wrong thread for this but I love the fact Katty Kay just asked "It takes a lot to pi*s off the Canadians, don't you think?" in an interview on Beyond 100 Days.

Ben is better suited to Breakfast than straight news in my opinion (and I expect that he will replace Charlie whenever he chooses to leave, if they continue with 2 male and 2 females as the main presenters, considering Jon Kay is appearing less and less frequently ). Simon McCoy seems to have been rather sidelined since he moved to the afternoon shift which is a shame. I can see why the BBC are choosing to keep Joanna at a lower profile at the minute but she, Annita McVeigh, Martine Croxall, Simon and Christian would all have been better choices than Tina. Its also a shame that Katty Kay has never had the chance to present the six or the ten on her various visits to the UK.

I wonder whether he is appearing less and less because, as soon as you (or I) think that, or even go beyond that and express it, he turns up again on Breakfast this morning. I think presenters have stopped presenting, after they've been absent for a little, and, as soon as I start thinking that, that seems to be the moment for them promptly to appear again and continue presenting, usually then more regularly than they've ever done before.

Jon Kay on Breakfast today. On another Friday again. It seems to me he has been on half the days - 4 out of 8 - in one 8 day period one and two weeks ago. He seems to be on both Fridays and Saturdays now, [deleted] Maryam on Biz Live - she seems to have clearly joined the presenter team and is regularly presenting the programme, at least for now.

EDIT: [deleted - useful information but potential rule breaking]

[Jon Kay] has been on as often as he has so far this month.

In fact, thinking about myself saying "On another Friday...", we should all be saying the same thing as that woman did when hearing about the snap general election. "Not another one!"

I'm not saying that I don't like him, think he's on too much or I'm getting tired of his appearances - I'm just pointing out as a fact that he has been on as often as he has so far this month. (I don't think he will be presenting every Friday and Saturday in future - just some weeks he will be presenting on both Friday and Saturday. However, that may be wrong as all predictions I try to make will doubtless go awry.)

It's quite obvious why

Dan Walker has gone to the World Cup

So i'd expect to see Jon 2-3 days a week for the next month

It wasn't obvious to me (although it is now that you've mentioned it). [Information about past, not actually happening.]

[My expectation is irrelevant.]

In other news - [should have gone onto another thread, so irrelevant here]

Of course this now prompts the usual thoughts of whether such a thing is the first time or not.

No it doesn't.

Some new presenter on BBC World News, Krupa something,

Can’t say I’ve ever heard anyone with that surname before.

Krupa Padhy, apparantly she’s presented before

Krupa Padhy, like Nkem Ifejika, Nuala McGovern, James Menendez and Ros Atkins (to name but some) are all current or previous BBC World Service Radio presenters - BBC World News TV seems a natural progression.

[I've decided, really, entire post should go, as none of it is what is actually happening now.]

Don't argue

I'm sorry, I thought this was a discussion forum.

I'm sorry I didn't mean it literally like that lol.

We now have Simon McCoy on the lunchtime news. Fwiw, I don't think he has been sidelined unlike some people have thought it is - although he's now presenting less on BBC One he is now regularly on Afternoon Live which is a mainstay and significant part of the schedule for BBC News.
