Wow, you must have not seen her. She has been on BBCWN for quite few weeks maybe a month or so. Yeah, she's been missing from the spotlight for a length of time, recently started alternating on the same timeslot with Nik, since the Boston bombing if I remember correctly. Martine Dennis was covering it (the Boston bombing's breaking news) early morning (GMT time) on that day and then passes to her after her slot ends. But now with Katya Adler taking over, Geetha's gone again. And it seems Katya will be doing more, she's been on almost everyday for the week. Btw, Katya seems to stutter a bit when she's interviewing someone or asking questions, otherwise she's pretty decent aside from her less British accent. She also has a way of putting on her smile a second or two after the camera zooms to her.

When did Geetha return? I haven't seen her since the the move to Broadcasting House.

Hmm, it's not the first time I've seen Yalda mixing things up
Is it her nervousness? I thought she's been a news person for a while with one of the Aussie networks.
She's really stumbling over, with asking Lyse Doucet just now whether she (Lyse) would like to get back to the guy from Karachi because they can hear the guy from the studio in London but Lyce Doucet earlier reported problem hearing the guy. I thought she's suppose to make that decision? Haha, it's really quite hilarious. I think she has quite a bit of trouble co-ordinating impromptu situations.
And there was a moment at the ending when she awkwardly says Bye to the audience, and then proceeds to read some more news headlines and seems unsure of things, maybe she's getting plenty of instructions from the director she can't think quick enough. She then abruptly stops and tell the audience to read some more about the news (a woman rescued from the Bangladesh collapse) at the BBC website.
Yalda Hakim is really struggling with breaking news again... she doesn't appear to be able to ad lib to fill time... and when the autocue has a hissy-fit we get long silences whilst she shuffles through her papers.
Otherwise she's quite warm and likable, and definitely improved since her first day.

Just because she's worked in news before doesn't mean she will instantly be perfect on the BBC. Different organisations have different ways of doing things. The broadcaster(s) she worked for in Australia may well have completely different technical setups compared to the BBC which would take time to get used to and would not be visible to the viewer.
I've worked in the library profession for a few years now and have just moved to a new place of work. Although I know all about library catalogues, journal databases, inter-library loans etc. and have experience of them in particular libraries, I currently feel like a fish out of water in my new job because the way they do things - their systems and procedures - are unfamiliar to me. I can't imagine it's easy for anyone changing employers and for some reason news presenters are just expected to be brilliant from day one of a new job.

Jane Hill?
Who would everyone say is the most senior presenter on the domestic BBC News Channel? This is excluding Sian Williams, Sophie Raworth, Kate Silverton, George Alagiah, Huw Edwards, and Fiona Bruce.

She must be presenting when I'm at work because I never see Nik Gowing presenting anymore either.
Doesn't BBC World News have too many presenters now?

I would agree with you. It's either her of Matthew Amroliwala.

Its either Carrie, Jane, Martine to me. I think they are the most 'meant to be' regulars on the news channel
