And an 'annoying' ticker (that appeared at one minute past 11) that makes it look like BBC One has closed down/gone to emergency newsflash information.

I like that the people responsible for the ticker appear to have forgotten (last time they just had "BBC NEWS" and the time on-screen but, this time, full on ticker! ).

Lukwesa has of course been on BBC One many times before, as she also used to present BBC East Midlands Today (and Inside Out East Midlands - probably still does on occasion, I lose track!).

Lukwesa presented the most recent series of Inside Out East Midlands and there is nothing that would suggest that the next one will be any different. She also continues with occasional cover on BBC Radio Leicester on top of her work on the NC and World.

Now the ticker people have got the big block that just says "BBC NEWS" on screen and no time as the Film Review is on - presumably taking it from the i-Player recorded version overwriting the rolling ticker - oops, they've now corrected it and have that back on screen.

How long did Karin Giannone stay on for last night? I saw the 2am UKT bulletin was double headed with Tom Donkin joining her.

Karin was replaced by David Eades at 0400am UK time.

Whilst Tom was replaced by Ben Bland an hour after that.

Ben was rostered in the slot anyway, as the duty Business Presenter. I guess Sally Bundock would have presented alongside David Eades had she been on duty today.

Ben is exceptionally good too.

Yeah, he's a one of the people who doesn't make me fear the future of BBC News presenters when you see Gavin Esler and Maxine Mawhinney leaving. I personally think he's much more interesting than Karin Giannone.
