They've been doing that since the move from TVC to BH!

Only when they use the balcony screen. In the CSO studios they use standard lapel mics.

Taken me this long to notice. Amazing.

The weather presenters on the News Channel seem to be wearing those horribly clippy-sounding microphones that hang off your ear. It's very harsh. Is that new?

I prefer them.

I knew he would!

Interesting appointment. Wonder what happens when media coverage on the BBC is featured The Media Show. Andrea Catherwood is drafted back in to pose questions to the normal host, about his normal day job?
Messy.

Lukwesa Burak presenting the BBC World News this afternoon. What an excellent presenter she is, and one of a raft of several new faces appearing on the channel lately: Samantha Simmonds, Duncan Gollestani, Lucy Grey to name but a few.

Sad to see the departure of Adnan Nawaz for the time being, though. Haven't seen much of Lebo Diseko lately either, with Tom Donkin doing weekend overnights for the last wee while.

There just doesn't seem to be any regular presenters at the weekends? Nicloas is back but doing the morning shirt, Surly it would make more since to have one presenter doing one slot to keep everything simple?

Annita McVeigh back at 6.53pm. As far as I know this is the first time that the 2pm presenter has emerged after the 6.30pm BBC ONE news. The first time, that is, since the weekend rotas changed to the current start times after Chris Eakin left several years ago. That's if there is a 6.30pm news - usually it's the sportsday presenters, otherwise it's straight to Meet The Author or the BBC ONE presenter continues for a few minutes or, occasionally, the 7pm presenter comes in a little early. Never known the 2pm presenter to come back, until now.

I was thinking the first part of this a few days ago. There doesn't seem to be a regular presenter not just at weekends but other times either - the 2pm/1.30pm to 5pm weekdays shift seems to have been covered by whoever happened to be around of late. Must be reflecting the reduced number of staff, that they seemingly have whoever happens to be in the newsroom on that day rotaed at random. I have not yet worked out who is doing weekends - it has yet to settle down to a regular pattern but, give it a few more weeks, and I may start to know. Shaun Ley has been in and was covering 'Dateline'. When he is not there - as the remaining presenter after both Gavin Esler and Carole Walker left - it now seems to be Jane Hill covering Gavin's shifts, including regularly presenting the News at Five on Fridays. That seems to be a regular fixture, although Simon McCoy did it last week and I've yet to know if Ben Brown is going to come back and be the general cover when Jane is not there (he was covering just before Gavin left but after Jane had started to present the programme). As for weekends, it seems anyone's guess at the moment, although Shaun/Lukwesa seem to be around quite a lot. That said, Annita is often on on weekends, as today (she was on weekend when the royal baby was born). Martine seems to be in every other Saturday night or so (she's done Thursday, Friday and Sunday usually though turned up on Wednesday afternoon this week!), and Clive is in on roughly every other Sunday for the BBC ONE news, otherwise Mishal Husain as before.

Lukwesa did a late evening shift I think on Wednesday, so what your say really does seem to be the case. You would think there could ask the freelancers etc to have regular spot or would that cost more money?
