What a shame that Nicholas Owen is doing the News Channel, and Clive Myrie the BBC News at Six, as it would otherwise have been "Nicholas Owen and Nick Owen" on BBC West Midlands. Nicholas Owen is so rarely on on a weekday... and for it to coincide with Nick Owen...! Grrr, I can only imagine the BBC are rota-ing them deliberately so as to spoil my fun!

I don't think Midlands Today bother with the official wording for the 17:59:50 announcement. Whenever I've caught it, they say "In half an hour it's Midlands Tiday with xxx but first the BBC News at six o clock" or words to that effect.

Its normally "now the news with [national presenter] and [regional presenter] at six o clock

Not like the old days, 'Now on One, the Six O'Clock News with George Alagiyah followed in half an hour by Midlands Today with Nick Owen' - I assume they got told off by the Continuity police for using One well into the last decade!

Has that ever happened? Nicholas Owen used to present the Six reasonably regularly.

Chris Mitchell also leaving BBC Sport, according to comments by some on Twitter.

Maxine Mawhinney will host her last ever edition of Dateline London today as well. Which is sad. Maxine handles the programme perfectly.
