As far as I'm aware, Jon Sopel hasn't anchored since he took on his current role as North America editor and I don't see him doing it.

His role now is to report and interpret what is going on, and to be interviewed by the anchor.

There are more than enough people available to anchor the news programmes as it is.

Although Katty Kay and Jon Sopel will both be fully engaged with their regular full time jobs this week.

Then again, in addition to Huw and Clive being there, Andrew Neil and Emily Maitlis are both there for the main election night coverage, and Martha Kearney and Jim Naughtie are there for Radio 4. What having Huw there for the network bulletins will add to the table I don't know.

Can't confirm, but I'm sure Maryam Moshiri presented on the 8-12 shift on World (heard out of vision when I flicked across), then jumped over to the NC to do the 1145 biz bulletin during Newsroom Live.

He did! He anchored the 2014 mid-terms. I think he may have been involved with the primaries coverage as well in the studio.

Is it becoming an annual event for Babita Sharma to broadcast from Washington? Will Newsday come from Washington and Singapore tonight?

I think Newsday may be syndicated to public tv so she could be over here to talk to affiliates.

Has led to some unusual combinations on Biz live with all Victoria and Alice on maternity, Sally and Aaron away and Ben on breakfast the last couple of days.

Susannah and Maryam on Thursday.
Jamie and Maryam today.

With both Alice Baxter and Victoria Fritz on maternity leave, it should lead to some interesting combos on Biz Live and throughout the day on the NC and WN.
