I'm not sure where to post this but there was a testy segment on Morning Joe this morning with Dr. Ben Carson. World News America's Katty Kay was a panelist/contributor /newsreader today and asked a question to Dr. Carson about Trumps sexual assault claims. He didn't want to answer and as she presssed him to the answer and told Joe Scarborough to cut Katty's mic.

I thought this might interest some on here. I had the pleasure of talking to Martine Croxall the other day on Cambridge 105. Here's the interview, there were a few chuckles towards the end.

Huw Edwards has been sent to Washington thank goodness. Lots of speculation BBC wouldn't send anybody due to cuts. Clive Myrie is also there for NC

I guess there is an argument that this is an election that has been known about for years, and so travel and accommodation can be book far enough in advance to get good value - probably before the recent round of budget cuts was announced. That's very much more affordable than sending people out to cover unexpected breaking news, where flights and hotels are at a premium.

I'm guessing this means the Ten will come from Washington All the way through until Wednesday.

It's also a fairly significant world event. They didn't actually say they'd stop sending anchors out on location, but they'd restrict it to one person per channel, so whilst the threshold will be higher than previously for doing so I'd imagine Huw will still be seen on location when required, especially for stories of this scale.
A very good point though about the difference between covering planned events and unplanned events, especially when the latter are usually in areas where infrastructure and communications have usually been hit hard by the event they're covering.

Though, to be fair, Jon Sopel is already there and is a pretty good anchor.
As are Katty Kay, Laura Trevelyon, and Jane O'Brien
