At 69, does this make Nicholas Owen the oldest ever newsreader on British TV?

Rather depressing if true.

Why is that depressing?

It's nice that he can remain in his job till that age and not become either incompetent or a grumpy old man who's slagging off his employers and industry to the press every other week

Worth noting, perhaps, that Alastair Stewart, Jeremy Thompson and Jon Snow are all of a similar age.

Alistair is 63 so a bit younger, but yes I don't see why age is an issue.

Clearly I wasn't suggesting it's depressing if true that he's 69 - that's easily verifiable information.

I meant it's depressing that a 69 year old would be the oldest, currently or historically.

Qualified behind Wales, with a disappointing performance, and a tepid 0-0 draw, where as Wales won 3-0 against Russia.

I think because he's a Welshman, he's justified in having a little bit of a smirk, Wales have earned their top spot in the group with far better performances. England need to seriously up their game, to get beyond the next round.

Whenever they do anything about BBC News on radio one they always use that version. It's close enough for most listeners, nobody will have noticed.

It's also Studio B set up for the Victoria Derbyshire show but Joanna keeps calling it BBC News.
But as you say, not the point.
