I doubt it. Simon's done the 5 on many occasions instead of his usual afternoon shift and not the 10. It'll probably be Sophie/Fiona/Reeta on the 10.

In actual fact, has Simon ever presented the 6 or 10 apart from weekends and bank holidays?

I think he's done some Christmas cover but I wouldn't swear on it,

Simon McCoy is now regularly a presenter on BBC News during the afternoon on weekdays and sometimes stays and covers the News at Five. Obviously on this occasion the afternoon shift was being covered by other presenters but Simon did the Five.

Jane Hill presenting the Film Review this weekend (first time I've seen her present that). Following the elections, presumably Gavin Esler was broadcasting from Scotland during the morning and part of the afternoon, and therefore Jane Hill was in the studio including 5-6pm on Friday.

Quite a mix on World yesterday.

Philippa Thomas with Impact, but stayed on to do an extra hour of World News.
Tanya Beckett then did the next hour of World News.
Ben Bland then did the next hour of World News, and stayed on to present World News Today.
Rajini Vaidyanathan with the overnight.

Just to confuse you, Kate Silverton doing two earlier evening news bulletins today - one at 5.10 for England, Scotland and Wales and one at 6pm for NI. Ticker was showing throughout much of the NI bulletin Very Happy .

Surprised this hasn't been posted but Rupert Wingfield-Hayes and his team were expelled from North Korea. Reportedly they were since Friday and were interrogated for eight hours and it was over a report about the children's hospital they visited which questioned whether or not the patients were sick or the staff trained.

Stephen Evans remains in the country.

Unusual to see Reeta presenting on the NC this afternoon with Simon, has she done on a shift on there before?

She's covered some NC shifts in the past, mainly weekend evenings though.

Speaking of network presenters covering shifts on the News channel, didn't BBC News 24 (as it was) go through a phase where the likes of Fiona Bruce and Sophie Raworth presented some shifts when they wanted some more higher profile names on the channel?

Is Alice Baxter on another of her legendary long shifts on World? Spotted her on GMT, WBR at 1730 BST but didn't mention if she's covering Biz Live at 2000 BST.

Susannah Streeter covered for Victoria Fritz on the NC this afternoon, which can mean VF is covering for Tanya Beckett.

To answer my own question, Susannah Streeter is on Biz Live.

It's sad when a reporter is treated this way for reporting the facts.

BBC correspondent Rupert Wingfield-Hayes and his team have been expelled from North Korea after being detained over their reporting.

Our correspondent, producer Maria Byrne and cameraman Matthew Goddard were stopped by officials on Friday as they were about to leave North Korea.

Wingfield-Hayes was questioned for eight hours by North Korean officials and made to sign a statement.

All three remained in Pyongyang before flying to Beijing on Monday.
