Sadly not - it was Michael Collie on the regional news yesterday early evening, when Nicholas Owen was on the national (there isn't a regional late bulletin on Saturday nights). Such a disappointment (but only because Nicholas Owen was the national presenter). I missed the potential moment in any event though - because I was tuned to the News Channel, saw Nicholas Owen come on and then realised too late! However, I did check a few minutes later and it was not to be, this time, anyway! We have got to have a coinciding of the two presenters at some point though. Sadly Nicholas Owen is a cover presenter rather than main, and Nick Owen is one of the main presenters and therefore cover times, when Nicholas Owen might be on, are likely to be someone other than Nick Owen. This must lessen the chance of there being such a coincidence.

We have had a few 'unusual' presenters on the national news of late - Martine Croxall last Saturday early evening and Annita McVeigh on Good Friday lunchtime. I believe this is the first time she has presented BBC ONE news since the day Declan Curry left - however she did present some coverage on BBC ONE on the Royal Baby announcement. My favourite moment, with the 'Weekend' news, which I suppose Good Friday was, is when the presenter on BBC ONE continues on air on the BBC News Channel. Did this happen on Good Friday (yet again I miss these moments!) or did we have a changeover?

Has anyone heard any news about Matthew Amroliwala? He's not been on screen (or Twitter) for months with no explanation. I hope he's not unwell.

Given the amount of revolving doors at the BBC of late, he'll no doubt be appearing on ITV / Channel 4 / Channel 5 / Sky very soon.

Rubbish. He's on BBC World. They even did a special farewell VT for him on the News Channel.

But he hasn't appeared on BBC World for months either, that's what DrewF meant. The last time he appeared on screen or tweeted was October.

I suspect he's taken some sort of sabbatical. He's been with the BBC since the early 1990s. I believe Carrie Gracie has done the same, she joined the BBC just a few years prior to Amroliwala.

Carrie Gracie has hardly taken a sabbatical. She's China Editor!

According to this Guardian report back in February, she is on "long service leave" at the moment, while her daughter takes her A Levels.

OK, apologies. Didn't know.

Before making a statement that definite, it might be best to check first.

He has not appeared on BBC World since presenting Global at the start of last October.

As others suggest I suspect he is probably on a sabbatical for whatever reason.
