Anyway, without it, I wouldn't have come to this thread to see what people were posting and you'd never have known my views on the 6.33-7pm coverage.

A really interesting article about Carrie Gracie's work as China Editor, her views on the News Channel and the reason for her absence too.

So at what times are the BBC WN official bulletin, GMT? IAnd do they have set presenters for each one or is it a free for all? There just seem to be a lot of stranded programmes rather than set bulletins.

Stranded programmes have been a fixture of the BBC World News schedule for some years now. The main strands, their regular presenters and GMT times are:
2300 Newsday (Babita Sharma, Kasia Madera, Rico Hizon, Sharanjit Leyl)
0000 Newsday
0100 Newsday
1100 GMT (Lucy Hockings, Stephen Sackur)
1200 GMT
1300 Impact (Yalda Hakim)
1400 Impact
1500 Global
1700 Outside Source (Ros Atkins)
1730 Focus on Africa (Sophie Ikenye, Peter Okwoche)
1900 World News Today
2100 Outside Source
2200 World News America (Katty Kay)

In the coming weeks however, clock changes in the US and in London will change the schedule.

At other times, BBC World News bulletins air at the top of the hour, generally for 26 minutes, plus editions of World Business Report, Sport Today and Asia Business Report. Business Live airs at 0830 and 2000.

Has it been mentioned that Tina Daheley made her debut on the 90 second update yesterday and it will apparently be a regular Wednesday night gig.

Tina has appeared a few times before on the update as one of the alternating presenters. But she said it twitter it is now a regular thing for her to appear on Wednesdays now.

Newsround's Leah Boleto is covering Sport on the NC.

They seem to have hundreds of sports presenters on the NC.

'Seem'. But actually don't.
Most are freelancers. And the actual figure probably runs into the 10's..

Sorry to put a break on your Daily Mail-esque rant against perceived BBC overmanning.

Perhaps they appear to have a lot of presenters because they have working policies that allow flexible working - which probably benefits them when they have peaks (Euros, World Cup, Olympics etc).. Also there is probably a greater cross over between presenting and reporting in BBC Sport.
