Seems more than they'd usually have on the new weekend shifts, which I'd have thought would be applicable today - though can understand the logic in getting more people in doing shorter shifts on Christmas Day.

Wish the same could have been applied to Boxing Day which seems to being treated as normal Saturday as Dateline London is on as normal.

Lemmy's obituary package was voiced by Nick Serpell, the BBC's obituaries editor - not sure I've heard him on air before. Presumably Nick Higham had the day off.

So she could easily have been home, slept for 8 hours and come back in?

Was she not supposed to? If she was booked to do the shift, she was booked. Better that than not showing up.

She's been doing that a fair bit over Christmas/New Year. It's certainly not unusual to see presenters out of their normal time slots at this time of year.

Alice Baxter is the most noticeable of the presenters taking on extra pres shifts. She was back again at 5.30am for WBR.

Even last week, she did the NC PM biz shift and then a late shift on World.

It seems like she's always on when I turn around. I hope she lives close by or that the BBC is either chipping in for a ride to work or a hotel nearby.

Naga is currently filling in for Adnan this morning.
