A lady by the name of Julie Peacock has joined Mike Embly for an overnight similcast covering the Boston Bombing. Would she have been called in especially or do BBC NEWS always have a standby presenter in case of stuff like this or if BBC domestic have to break away overnight? Also isn't this (1am UKT) an early finish for the 'Newsday' presenter? (in this case Babita Sharman)?

It's Julie Peacock, ex-Reporting Scotland apparently.

But why would she be in BH at this hour? Was she called in especially or do they always have a standby presenter?

It's not an early finish for Babita Sharma as she started an hour earlier at 2200 BST.

I remember hearing her name on one of the BBC News report before... maybe she is just there at the exact moment of times.

She's usually a BBC reporter, so may well have been the NBH-based on-duty reporter. And, given that they weren't going to be covering any other stories that night, it probably made sense to have her in the studio instead - especially if she has prior presenting experience.

No, it's strange that Alice Baxter is almost everywhere and anytime...
Strange to me that Alice Baxter is doing the overnights now.
