It may take him a day or two as well. Understandable as Lyse Doucet is probably on assignment somewhere else in the world so needs the time to get there but it would make sense sending her there with her knowledge of French.

Now we have BBC World News assuming control of the simulcast with Karin Giannone in Studio C.

Lyse is in Cairo, Egypt isn't she? So either it's taking time to arrange travel or they want to keep her there.

It would make sense sending her to Paris with her tile as Cheif International Correspondent and the fact in January she was able to act as a translator between English and French, which speeds up things during a live interview in such circumstances. It makes sense for the BBC to send correspondents based in Paris, as well as correspondents from Brussels, with otter correspondents/presenters who can speak French as its a real benefit.

I see Huw Edwards is in Paris, will Gavin Hewitt also be in Paris as Cheif Correspondent?

I'm not sure they need too many more presenters and correspondents in Paris right now - I think people are getting a little carried away.

There already are three presenters (Tim, Huw and Ben), the three Paris based correspondents, the three Brussels based Europe correspondents, the Europe Editor, the Chief Correspondent and a security correspondent all in Paris right now.

Surely that's enough for the moment?

I suspect you'll see some rotation taking place in due course.

Lyse isn't the only BBC person who can translate.

It's usual to send many presenters and correspondents to major breaking news stories. I think though you would want your Cheif International Correspondent there as a valued correspondent and very capable presenter. I agree though that there is a possibility for overkill.

I am positive Lyse will show up.

I'm sure she may, probably to replace one of the other people - they tend to rotate personnel on big stories like this.

Again, though really I think people are getting very fixated on individuals. There are a large number of very capable correspondents and presenters already there.

Of course but you do want your most important staff there as it's important and if today is anything to go by, tomorrow's schedule will be altered as well.

It's nice to see Nik Gowing will be back on BBC World News on the 21st with an Intelligence Squared debate on the Iran nuclear deal.
