I'm going to say it. Welcome back George, it's going to be good to have you back on our screens soon hopefully <thumbs up icon>

One thing that I'm surprised by...they haven't drafted in Katie Derham to cover when they're desperate, especially when she is miles better than some of the substitutes we've seen lately.
She is doing Strictly, and so I imagine training quite a bit.

Just now yeah, but the BBC have been desperate for what...at least a year?

You're presuming she would want to...

I'm sure when George is able to present the odd shift gradually returning, it'll be great for him as well as not relying so much on presenter cover, yet lets celebrate the fact he's been able to come into the newsroom.

Victoria Derbyshire is also recovering from cancer, so I won't expect her to return just yet.

As BBC World News continues (to this very day) to lose long-serving and highly experienced presenters, the recent crop of (very) new additions (with the exception of one "trainee" in particular) have made the channel quite unwatchable at various periods during the week, but moreso at weekends.

I appreciate this is a highly subjective matter, but the tendency to prefer looks over substance has started to become so obvious that one wonders just what direction is the channel taking these days.

Rant over.

I find BBC world like watching a scene from metropolis. Everyone has to start somewhere, but they are like the robots in that movie surrogates.

Particularly liked his 'As we continue to reminisce' line when handing to the weather, shame it wasn't Tomasz Schafernaker doing the forecast. Wink

Glad to see Simon and Carrie reunited!

On Newsday tonight, Kasia Maderia in London seems to be holding papers like in Singapore, good to see they aren't completely reliant on technology there. In Sungapore, could they use a podium thing like they did in N8 for The Hub?
